FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2021
The Trustees submit their Annual Report and Accounts for the S￿ty for th8 R81i6f of Distress (the 'Chanty'l
for the year ended 31 December 2021. The Trustees f￿)fim1 that the Annual Report and Accounts comply
wrth currerrt statutory requirements of the Charity's goveming document, the smaller charity provisions of the
Statsment of Recommended Practice (SORP FRS 102) and ￿ Charities Act 2011 (the .2011 Acr).
Constitution
The Charity is constituted under a Trust doed and is a registered d)arity no 207585.
The principal object of the Charity is to make grants for the reli6f ol ￿VertY, sth8ss and distress to people
living in the Inner London Boroughs.
M•thod of appolntlng or £I•￿10n of TrustM•
The management of the Chartty is the responsibilty of the Trust4￿$ who are elorted and cfr¢)pted under the
térms of the Trust deed. Trustees are nominated by the Board of Trustees.
Organl•allonal 8tructur• and D•¢l•lon Il•klng
The Charty does not currtntty empby any staff. The Trustees are responsible for the management of the
Charty and for Ihe furtheran¢6 ol the objects for whth it was established. The Trustees meet monthly to
discuss the affairs of the Charty.
Rl•k Manag•m•nt
Th• Trustees hAV8 asses8ed tho rr4ior risks to which the Char*¥ is axp08ed, in particular those relating to thè
operations and finance of the Trust. The Trustees are 88tisfiod that 8ySteffrs are in plac8 to mitwJate the
Charty'8 exposure to any major risk8.
R•vl•w of A¢tlvlll
The Charty pfovKJes grants to help peop￿ of all ages, origins and b￿kgrOundS INing in London. often those
receiving grants are very ill or disabled or suffering from great hardship. Typicalty one-off grants are made
towards essentkql personal and household items, such as clothing. bedding, baby items, cookers, fridges,
fumitur8 and fto)r covering. This year approximatety 15612020 212) grants were made totalling £34,678 (2020
£40,884). The Charty does not accept applications dirertty from individual8', ali applK*ions are required to be
made by a recognised body, such as another charity. a social seNice departmènt, an NHS trust or a church or
faith institution.
Covld 19
Following the 8igntficant adverne imp&t of the Pandemic w the valu8 of the Charity's investment portfoh'o on
2020, valuations recov6red during 2021. Investment income ¢ontinued at a similar level to 2020. as did
donations, enabling the Charty to continue to make individual grants of a similar level to last year, alihough
overall fewer granls V￿re given this year. The Trustees have a reasonable expeclation that the Chafty has
adequate resources to continue orffition for the forese8able fubjro encompassing thoso changes.

The Charty's Trustees consider that an audtt is not required for this year under ￿tIOn 144 of the 2011 Act and
that an independent exomination is needed.

My examination was carried out in acwdance with Ihe General Directions given by the Charty Commission. An
examination includes a r•viaw of the accounting records kept by the Charty and a cornparison of the accounts
presented with those records. It also incl￿05 consKleration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts
and seeking explanations from the Truste8s conc•ming any Such matters. The procedures undertaken do nol
provide all the ￿IdenCe that would be required in an audii, and consequonty no opinion is given as to whethor

**2. During the year donations of £15,000 (2020 £10,000) were received from the Blyth Watson Trust. £5,000 was received just before the year end and will be used to fund grants to be made in 2022. Accordingly, this income has been deferred in the 2021 accounts and will be taken into income in 2022.**
