NORTHAMPTONSHIRE AND HUNTINGDONSHIRE MARK BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATION Charity Commission registered number 207374

The Trustees’ Annual Report for the financial year commencing 1[st] January 2021 and ending on the 31[st] December 2021.

The principal address of the Charity to which all correspondence should be addressed is 24, Denford Road, Ringstead, Kettering, Northamptonshire NN14 4DF.

The Charity is governed by its Governing Document dated 24[th] July 1962.

On 6th November 2021, the Mark Province of Northamptonshire & Huntingdonshire and the Mark Province of Bedfordshire were dissolved and the Mark Province of Northampton, Huntingdon and Bedford was constituted. As a result, the subscribing membership of the Association increased and the Charity will now be proposing changes to its Governing Document to reflect this.

The Aims and Objectives of the Charity:

To assist needy Brethren and their immediate family by means of grants and to aid its members to subscribe to the funds of any registered charity, but primarily to the Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons Fund of Benevolence, Registered Charity No 207610 (also referred to as The Mark Benevolent Fund).

Trustees: Ex officio Trustees Mr Robert Andrew Stokes (Provincial Grand Master for the Northants & Hunts Provincial Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons), Mr Brian John Elliott (Deputy Provincial Grand Master of the Northants & Hunts Provincial Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons (1st January- 5 June 2021), Mr John David Sowerby (Provincial Grand Secretary (January – 5 June 2021 and as Deputy Provincial Grand Master 6 June – 31 December)) Mr. Stephen Keith Hewitt (Provincial Grand Secretary 5 June -31 December 2021) and elected member Mr Brian Ennever were the appointed Trustees during the financial year covered by this report.

Selection of Trustees: The Ex officio Trustees are the Provincial Grand Master, the Deputy Provincial Grand Master (Chairman), the Provincial Grand Secretary of the Northants & Hunts Provincial Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons and an elected member of the Association elected annually.

Activities & Achievements: During the year, the Association made two grants to Registered Charities totalling £1250 and donated the sum of £13,420.27 to the Mark Benevolent Fund.

Policies:

The Trustees review all requests for grants as and when received from the Members and/or their Lodges.

Trustees are required to disclose any conflicts of interest or potential conflict of interest. The Trustees are elected annually.

An Annual General Meeting open to the Subscribing Members and a Representative of each Lodge within the Mark Province of Northants & Hunts is usually held on the first Saturday of June.
