In May 1881 the charities of William Moryce, Sir John Smyth, Mrs Hester Fenn, Maria Bower, Mrs Mary Smyth, The Dowager Lady Smyth, George Whiting, Peter Maze and Elizabeth Coulton were consolidated, administered and managed by the trustees under the title of the 'Long Ashton Parochial Charity'.
In 2005 the Charity Commission confirmed that all 9 charities are to be used for the maintenance of the Long Ashton Almshouses - numbers 13,15,17,19,21,23,25 and 27 Long Ashton Road.
Lady Smyth's Almshouses
This charity is for the upkeep and maintenance of the Almshouses as listed above.
Francis Derrick Educational Charity
Income from the land owned by the charity is given to Birdwell School and Northleaze School in equal parts. The trustees sold a strip of land to Sustrans, the sum invested and the interest received given to the schools annually.
Chorley's Charitable Trust
A fund was set up in 2005 with the intention that the capital is to be invested in interest bearing deposits at the discretion of the Long Ashton Charity Trustees.
The interest is to be distributed for the upkeep of the Fabric of All Saints Church, Long Ashton, possibly at five yearly intervals after a quinquennial inspection of the Church. Whether or not the payment is made towards any particular repair is to be solely at the discretion of the Trustees of this Charity.
The Trustees have given due regard to the guidance published by the Charity Commission on Public Benefits.
ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE
In 2023 there were no resident changes.
