PRESTBURY MEMORIAL TRUST CHAIRMAN’S REPORT JANUARY TO DECEMBER 2023
We continue to support 118 members.
The minibus issue was finally solved after many months of frustration and has since performed well, although we are mindful of the fact that as an old vehicle it will need replacing, and it is for that reason that we launched a minibus appeal in December 2022.
Sit and fit has been particularly popular, and we now have a waiting list.
Our minibus outings were well attended and enjoyed by all. The Christmas lights with fish & chip supper outings remain a highlight of the festive season.
72 visits were carried out by the Friendship Group, a service that is always much appreciated and we currently have 6 birthday visit volunteers who do a fantastic job.
Fund raising was particularly focused on obtaining funds towards a new minibus and we currently have just over £9k in the minibus account.
We have held quizzes and coffee mornings, all of which have been extremely successful, and our financial situation remains stable.
New tenants moved into 10a Deep Street in February, and rent from this property has raised £9075.00
A refurbishment of no.10 was carried out in December 2023 with new flooring, counter tops and complete redecoration of the kitchen completed just before Christmas. We also installed a humidistat to combat the condensation issue, this has improved the situation greatly.
The monthly Lunch Club has operated using the Prestbury WI Hall. Bob Connolly retired from his role as trustee for Lunch Club; our thanks to him for all his years of service to the Trust, and Sue Challenger took over in late 2023.
The Lunch Club average attendance has been around 35 and the Christmas party had 70 attending.
My thanks to the warden, to the committee for all their help and to all the volunteers without whom none of the above would be possible.
I would like to pay tribute to Steve Price, who was our trustee responsible for Transport and who very sadly died in September 2023. He was very supportive of the Trust and is greatly missed by all.
