Grantchester Vlllage Trust Annual Report 2021 (Charity Commission no. 204586) Introduction Grantchester Village Trust was fom?ed in 2016. when three k)ng*stablished village charities joined together. Our main priority is helping local people with specific needs, but we also fund activities whith benefit the wider community. Each year we spend around £8,CKM) from our endowments. The other half of our endowment income is passed to the church. in line with the priorities of the original charities that formed the Village TrusL In addition we have benefited recently from generous donations which have enabled us to fund further artivities beyond those we can usually contempLIte. Our income and expenditure are summarised in the attached table of accounts. Grants to resldents In need: Last year we were able to help a Durnber of residents in need, some afferted by the Coronavirus pandemic and others by the governmenvs cut in 5UPPOrt for those receiving Universal Credit. Eduotlonal Opportunlty Grnnts: Helpin8 young people achieve their full potential is an increasing part of our work. Durin8 the year we have offered support for all of the followin8: Paying for school clubs or residential trips Transport to and from college • 8uylng books and equiprnent. Includlng laptOPS Covering the cost of extracurricular artivities, Induding sports and music Adult or fvrther education course fees Heatlng s¢heme: Many older Grantchester residents have inefficient electric storage heating and inadequate insulation. 8ecause of this the Village Trust offers elderly and disabled residents who have medical need5 additional financial help. In 2021. we inueased our heating grants to £140 and supported 35 households. (In February 2022 we were able to supplement this with an extra £liJ) grant to help with escalating energy bllls). Supermarket trlps: The Trust organi5es supermarket trips with Dial-a-Ride for the elderfy and disabled every three weeks. The rnajor areas of Expenditure over the year were on Heating Grants1£46001, Residents in Need IE46051 and Educational Opportunity Grants1£33051- The Church received 50% of the Trusys regular income (not induding donations for Social Needs) which amounted this year to £8133. The Trust obtains its income from rents received from tenants of its lands and from investments held on the stock market and bank interest. The Trust relies on these sour to fund Its regular activities. It is a long-term investor and, as far as possible, does not dip into its investments. The total value of its financial assets increased to just under three hundred thousand pounds1£2991871; this represented an increase of £37261 over the previous year although the income the Trust attually received remained fairly steady. The Trust h35 no intention of selling its lands and so has not had thern valued. One trustee received a Heating Grant for which they were eligible. The Treasurer was reimbursed for administrative expenses. No other trustees claimed any expenses from the Trust. The Trust owns a number of pieces of land (see below). These are all rented out produce income for the Trust.
