The tn]stees believ¢ the objectives of the trust are to 5UPPOrt any institution whose purpose is wholly charitable and
in¢Jividuals in parti¢ulai need, with primary Concern to benefit thc inhabitants of the county of Devon and to assist the
poor or aged and io advance education.
Summary of the mgin activities in relation to these objectives
The ttust JDeets its objectives by following a general policy of di5tiibuting the knjst's in¢ome whilst maintsiniD8 the
substallee of the ttut's investjnents to enlarge its gtant-giving potential.
Policy on grant maklnE
The trustees invite, or respond ￿, applications from a wide variety of establL5hed charities or groups promoting
charitable caus¢s. Their preferenee is to SUPEK)rt smaller group5, mostly in ihe soutli west of Englaad, which do not
have access to sophistscated fund raising caTnpaI￿S and on which a relatively small donation may have a significant
effect. In this manner thc aims of the charity are for the public benefit.
The trustees have had due iegard to guidance published by the Charity Commission on public benefil.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE

The charity has continued to run steadily. making donations out of investment income to local institution5 a￿1

It is the policy of the trust to maintain sufficient reserves ￿ meet its cornmitments to grants awarded but not yct paid

The trnsi employ5 Raihbone Investmeni Management Ltd io manage m05t of its investtnent portfolio. Th¢ remainder
of the portfolio 15 invested in companies in the county of Devon.
Out-turn

value of th¢ portfolio at the beginning of the year.
