## Village Hall Charity Landbeach

## Report for 2024/5

I am again pleased to report an increased use of the hall. During the year Aaron had to stand down as VH manger due to a work move away from the village. Luckily Ali Macklin offered to take over the role. This has proved to be a great success and thanks to her hard work we have seen further increased use of the hall.

We do not have as yet the audited accounts for the past year, but it looks as though after allowing for the solar installation grants and costs that we should have broken even. We have reviewed or charges for this year to reflect the true costs involved. With out reduced energy costs and increased income from lettings we are looking for an improvement in the current year.

I reported last year on the solar installation. The panels were installed in July but there was a long delay whilst the inverter and batteries arrived from China. The system came on line at the beginning of this year, and we are now seeing a substantial part of our electricity consumption provided by the system. Year to date 40% of our electricity has come from the system whilst this month has seen highs of over 70%. After another false start we now have a date for a smart meter to be installed which should allow for us to be paid for the electricity we are currently giving away to the grid. We have so far given away half a megawatt. We would like again to record our thanks to the Parish and District Councils for the grants towards this system.

At the end of February our very expensive gas contract came to an end and our costs have reduced by over half with the new contract. Thanks to the work of Matt Macklin, we can now control the heating remotely so that we can ensure that that it is only on when required.

As was stated last year the ovens and hobs in the kitchen needed replacing and this was accomplished during the year. Recently we redecorated the hall, lounge and entrance hall. I hope you have all noticed the improvement. We still have the kitchen and the outside of the building to deal with.

As many of you know the social club suffered a break in during the year and as landlords, we were responsible for the repair of the damage. In the end we decided to claim on the insurance for a new door and windows. We had to pay the excess, and our insurance premium has increased.

The 100 club is being run again this year as well as other events to contribute to the hall improvement fund.

There has been no change in the trustees this year and my thanks to them for all their input especially Ali Macklin manager, Elisabete Santos Secretary and Jonathan Delahoche Treasurer.
