**The Gloucestershire Society**

**Trustees' report For the year ended 31 December 2024**

## **Structure, governance and management**

The Gloucestershire Society is an unincorporated Registered Charity, which is governed by its Trust Deed.

The charity is administered by its committee of trustee members, who are appointed in accordance with the Trust Deed. The committee holds at least two ordinary meetings each year to discuss key matters and ensure the smooth running of the charity.

## **Objectives and activities**

The objectives of the charity is to provide relief from povety for people resident in the Gloucestershire area who are in need, in hardship or distress. The Trustees have had regard to the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit.

## **Summary of main achievements of the charity during the year**

The Society this year continued to provide vital support to beneficiaries throughout Bristol and Gloucestershire, during a time when the cost of living crisis accentuated the economic impact upon people living on the lowest incomes.

The Society had a successful appeal, with thanks, led by our president for 2024 Jonathan SeymourWilliams. Funds of £188,340 were raised during the year and £119,819 of grants were paid out to those in need, ranging from between £10 and £400 each.

The trustees were also very grateful for further restricted donations of £25,000 during the year to be used for the continuing efforts of the charity to provide grants to those in need. These funds were paid out during the year for the purpose intended.

The trustees are very grateful to all donors for their generosity during the year.

## **Reserves policy**

The trustees aim to maintain unrestricted reserves at a level to meet approximately 9 months' normal expenditure levels. This is considered to provide sufficient funds to continue to provide grants to beneficaries in the event of a drop in income.

## **Financial review**

The detailed receipts and payments accounts are included on page 3. As shown in the accounts, the principle sources of funds were donations received during the year. The key areas of expenditure included individual grants and administration costs. **SIGNED SECURELY**
