AXBRIDGE TOWN TRUST
Registered Charity: 202880
TRUSTEES ANNUAL REPORT 2021
Charity Name: Axbridge Town Trust
Registration Number: 202880
Address: The Town Hall, The Square, Axbridge, BS26 2AR
Trustees: Timothy Chard, John Page, Michael Anderson, Richard Parsons, Cedric Canham, Lesley Stanley, Grahame Paine, Sarah Godwin, Peter Scott and Mr Terrence Beasley.
Structure: Ten Trustees supported by a part-time Clerk and part-time Town Hall Manager. One Trustee acts as a Chair of the Trustees, selected by the Trustees themselves and supported by a deputy chair.
Appointment of Trustees : Five Representative Trustees are elected by public vote for a period of five years. One Trustee is appointed by the Archaeological and Natural History Society of Somerset with four Co-optative Trustees. These four Co-optative Trustees are appointed by the Trustees themselves for a term of seven years and are those who have served as Representative Trustees for several years and so they are very experienced in the workings of the Trust.
Activities/Objectives: Maintain and run the Town Hall as a public facility. Maintain the Square area of the town in floral displays. Administer and manage the property and chattels left when the Corporation of Axbridge was dissolved by the Municipal Corporation Act of 1883. The Trust has always maintained a five year business plan to ensure that continuous Town Hall improvements are completed when financially viable. Future improvements in 2022 are planned such as a new gas boiler and upgrading the electrical hard wiring.
Achievement/Performance: See annual accounts – the Trust performed well as a result of the government covid grants and the annual Town Council grant. Hall booking income improved in the latter half of 2021 due to the lifting of lock-down regulations.
Financial review: See accounts. Independently assessed by Michael Sartain (ACMA) who has no links to the Trust.
Custodian Trustees: No Trustees are custodian Trustees.
Prepared by Cedric Canham (Trustee)
