In applying the income of PUC, the Trustees shall not commit themselves to repeat or
renew the relief granted on any occasion in any case; the Charity shall not apply income
directly to relieve public funds.

The Prestbury United Charities is normally administered by nine trustees and a clerk who works on a
self-employed basis, being remunerated for hour5 worked. It has no paid employees.
The income of the charity Is made up of dividends and interest on investments.
In 2025 the total income received was £31.080.57
The Prestbury United Charities uses the income from investments to meet the needs of applicants
whom the trustees consider are eligible for a55lStance. Durin8 2025 the PUC approved 7 applications
from individuals or organisation5 whose fulfilment cost £1,877.¢XI. The PUC does not provide
monetary grants but typically sources household furniture or electrical appliances that applicants
cannot afford.
In 2021 the PUC established a partnership with the Cheltenham office of the P3 charity to extend
relief to those In need in its area of benefit. P3 helps persons who are homeless or have recently
been found accommodation and need basic household items. As at the last meetin8 of trustees In
October 2025, the P3 Charity had approved 12 applications during the year and spent £2,649.26 In
thelr fulfilment. There was a balance of cumulative grant monies awarded to P3 of £246.21 at that
time. The trustees 8ranted further funds to P3 of £5,000.00 to administer on the same application
basis as the PUC but with a maximum indlvidual grant limlt of £5IXI.IXI. Since 2021, the PUC has
awarded P3 grants totalling £25.OtXI.00.
In addltlon. grants amounting to £4,0(XI.00 were made to the Cheltenham Foodbank and £1,000.00
to Ridin8 For The Disabled.
In total, grants of £11,877.00 were made during 2025 by the PUC. Drferhead5 for the year were
£3,292.29.
In 2025 the total expenditure was £15,169.29.
In 2025 there was a surplus of income over expenditure of £15.911.28. That contrasts with a surplus
of 7.778.38 In 2024.. £3,354.01 in 2023,. a deficit of1£1,344.951 in 2022: and a deficit of1£9,163.531 in
2021.
In reviewing the outcomes for the financial year, trustees noted that the number of individual
applications that the charity had been able to support had halved since 2022. The PUC responds to
applicants who apply to the charty for help but. ccpincidentally, the P3 Charity had a150 experienced
a similar decline in the number of applicants it dealt with. p3 has caseworkers who are pro-active in
dealing with homeless and recently re-housed individuals and families. But. they reported that whilst
there was no decline in the numbers of people in need. the acute shortage of social housing in the
Cheltenham area meant that there were fewer people being offered housing or being re-housed.

Trustees have sought to Increase awareness of the assistance that the tharity is able to offer by
posting awareness posters in many locations and by directly contacting the agencies (such as
Gloucestershire Social servi￿s) that are able to refer and support applicants to the charity.
The flnancial policies followed by the PUC during the year were:
Trustee5 shall Ènsure that investments comply with the Trustee Act 20￿ {or any later
version), and that-
l .1 The aim of the Trustees is to protect the value of the investments against
inflation.
1.2 The Trustees take "proper advice. when investing. This advice Is to be given by a
Stockbroker or other suitsbly qualified flnanoal advisor and the Trustees
must ensure that:
1.2.1 There is a proper diversification of investments. and.
1.2.2 The Investments are suitable to meet the needs of the Chartty, and,
1.2.3 The rlsk is acceptable.
