Waterbeach United Charities was approved by the Charity Con]rni8sioners on 4

The objects of the Charities arc:
The relief of persons resident in the oTea of benefit who are in need. hardship or
distress. by making ￿antS of money or providing or paying for goods. 8ervice8 or
f&cAlities' or making grant8 to other person8 or bodies who proYAde good3. services or
facilities to those in need.
Any residue of income may be app]ied to the general benefit of the inhabitant8 of the
area of benefit. The T￿Ste¢S may apply income in promoting thc education and
training of persons under the age of 25 year8. re¥ident in the area of benefit and in
need of financial assistance.
RESERVES POLICY
The Trustees aim to keep a year's income in reserve in ca8e of any unfore8een
STATEMENT OF ASSETS
The Charity owns nine mobility $COOters and one powered vJheeld)air. The8e arc
loaned, insured and maintsined by the Charity giving independence and freedom to
the users in the village. Depreciation is not charged and when they are no longer
needed they are returned to the Charity and availablc for reallocation.

providing invaluable local knowledge.
It remains the intention to purnue the merger between the Waterbeach Iltrbary and
the Waterbcath United ChaTitie8. We had a p)8itivc resp)n￿ to a consultation with
stakeholders and Tesident3, and now await feedback frorn the CI￿lty Cornmi88ion
to our propwl.
Henry Smith Chan'ty
We were grateful to receive grant funding of £1,850 from the Henry Smith Charity
which wa8 used to 8Up￿￿ two rc8idcnt8 sufferin8 hardship.
Di8tress grant8
The charity ha8 8UPP)rted 4 h¢)u8ehold8 thi8 year. Theae included carwing for
re8ident8 moving into unfurrrished prolxrts￿, providin8 whtte good8 for people
moving into 80cial hou&ing and general Support for a vu]ncrabie reaident aiWiP)8ted
to the charity by Cambridge Womcn8' Aid.
Mobility 8COOter8
The Charity buy8, 108ns. maintsin8 and injures acooter8 to rtsidtrAt8 in need. When
they are no longer requircd thry are returned to the Ckwity to loan out again. Thi8
year the Choxity loaned out 8 and ha8 1 in rtock
Student grant8
This year we awarded 13 grant8 to 8tudent8 8tudying 8ubiects including Medicine
and Surgery. Mathematic8. Law. Phy8iotherapy. International Diwtcr Imanagement
& Humanitarian re8pon8el. Once aga￿ it dear how anxiou8 many of the 8tudent
applicAnt8 are about the impact that the (x>8t of Jiving In(Tea￿ are having on them.
We wi8h them well in their cho8en 8tudie8.
Grant8 to local organi8ation8
Due to a re8idue of income over expenditure in 2024 the Charity made two award8
to local organi8ation8 in 2025. A grant of £2.500 waJ given to the Tru8#ell Trujt Ely
branch specifically for their running of thc Waterbcach Fix)d Bank. Open to village
re8identB each Thuraday, the cost of the F&xl Bank 8e83ions in 2025 wa8 over
£7,000. A grant of £300 wa8 made to the Be8om in Hi8ton. They are a local
voluntary body who in 2025 gave time, materials and labour to redecorate the
hou8e of a Waterbeach family in need.
Ri8k Management.
The Charity manages risk in relation to the mobility 8COOter8 it own8. It Vlill a180
review risk before making any final commitment to the merger with the Turbary
charity referred to aEM)ve.
