The objects of the Charities are..
The relief of persons resident in the ￿ea of benefit who are in need, h￿dshIp or
distress, by maJ<ing grants of mone}" or proiiding or paying for goods. services or
facilities or making grants to other persons or bodies who provide goods, serrices or
facilities to those in need.
Any residue of income may be applied to Ihe gerLeral benefit of the inhabitants of the
area of benefit. The Trustees may appli. income in promoting the education and
training of persons under the age of 25 I"¢￿￿. resident in the area of beneflt and in
need of financial assistarACe.
The Trustees aim to keep a j.e￿,5 income ￿ reserKe in case of any unforeseen
circumstances.

STATEMENT OF ASS
The Charity owns nine niobility Scooters. These are loaned, insured and maintained
by the Charity giving independence and freedom io the users in the village.
Depreciation 18 not ch￿ged and when the) are no longer needed they returned
to the Charity and available for reajlocation.
In the early part of 2023 Diana Morgdn resR8ned as a Trustee. We thank her for her
contributions and welcome Kale Grant in her place. In the Autumn we sadly lost
Norma Kaye who had continued to support the Charity's work even as she Thas
fighting illness. She is much missed.
As always, my thanks and appreciation go to the Trustees for giving their time and
providing invaluable local knoivledge.
It remains the intention to pursue the merger between the Waterbeach Turbary and
the Waterbeach United Charities. During 2023 we consulted residents and
stakeholders and l am pleased to report the responses we receiiyed were all in favour.
We look to progress this further in 2024.

We were grateful to receive grant funding of £2.200 from the Henry Smith Charity
which was used to 8UPPOrt a resident in need.

We awarded 4 distress gr8nts this year. This included arranging for carpeting in an
unfurnished property occupied b)" a familv uith sick cl]iidren, and a laptop 10 enable
a student to pursue their studies at the local sixth foTm college.

The Charity has loaned out 8 this year and has I left in stock. The Charity buys.
108J)s, maintains and insures the se(M)ters and when no longer required returned
to the Charity to loan out.

This year we awarded 24 grants to siudent8 studNryng subjects including graphic
design, bio-medical science. nursing. teaching, legal executive, m￿keting and
engineering. It was striking how many of the student applicants r￿Sed the impact
that the cost of living increases are having on them. We wish them well in their
chosen studies.

ement.
The Ch￿ltY manages risk in relation to the mobilitS' Scooters it owns. It will also
review risk before maklng anj flnal commitment to the merger the Turbary
ch￿lty referred to above.
