ST MARY'S (DEVIZES) CHURCH AND POORLANDS CHARITY Trustees, Annual Report for the year ended 31 December 2024 The Trustecs present their report together with the financial statements of St Marys and Poorlands Charity for the year ended 31 December 2024. Objectives and Activities The Charity s objective is to provide independent living accommodation and support for people over the age of 60 within the community of Devizes. The Charity achieves this through the provision of affordable housing, maintenance of safe and comfortable living enviromnents, and engagernent with local services and welfare providers. Public Benefit The Trustees confirn] that they have complied with the duty in section 17 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to ihe Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit. Achievemcnts and Performance During the year, the Charity Lontinued to provide accommodation and support to residents at St Marys Gardens. The Trustees have overseen maintenance projects. improvements to facilities, and resident engag7ement initiatives to enhance wellbeing and independence. Financial Review The Charity's income during the year was £143,513, and expenditure amounted to £114,291. The resulting sury)lus for the year was £29,222. Reserves at the year-end totalled £3,620,948, which the Trustees consider satisfactory to meet the Charity's obligations and planned activities. Reserves Policy The Trustees aim to maintain free reserves sufficient to cover at least six months of op¢rating costs and any foreseeable maintenance expenditure. Plans for the Future The Charity plans to continue maintaining high-quality accommodation for residents and to explore opportunities for energy efficiency, community engagement, and partnership with local support services. Structure, Governance and Management St Marys and Poorlands Charity is governed by its charitable trust deed. Trustees are appointed in accordance with the governing document, and mcctings arc hcld regularly to oversee management and operations. Risk Management The Trustees hav¢ considered the major risks to which the Charity is exposed, particularly in relation to govemance, health and safety, and property maintenance. ST MARY'S (DEVIZES) CHURCH AND POORLANDS CHARITY Report of the Independent Examiner To The Trustees of St Mary's (Devizes) Church and Poor Lands Charity I report on the accounts of the Charity for th¢ ycar ended 31 December 2024, which are set out on pages 4 to Respective Responsibilities of Trustees and Examiner The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year (under section 144{2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act)) and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to:. examine the accounts (under section 145 of the 201 l Act); to follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners (under section 145(5)(b} of the 2011 Act). and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention. Basis of Independent Examiner's Report My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a coinparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosurcs in the accounts and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and conscquently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts. Independent Examiner's Statement In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention: which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements.. to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act, and to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 201 l Act, have not been met; or 2. to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
