It has been a betteryearft>rthe Town Hall & Institute (fH&II wlh thè changes that
occurred ftrr everyone due to the Covid Pandemic and lockdowns gradually eased.
The Trustees got regular update5 from Clairthe Town Hall Manager and took Into
account the national picture relation to Covid-19.
Booking5 slowty started to return wth staff and TnJ$tees mainlaining a c8utious
'safety-fir5t' approach. ensuring contrnued complianr* with public 8afÈty
requirements and government guid&line8. Thanks are due to Clair for steering us
carefully through the pandemic and being alert le every change in guidan￿.
The TH&1 ha5 continued lo be fastidious about the clean1ng needed lo help prevent
the spread of the virus through surface contact and as Chair I woukj a180 lik& to
congratulate Kiki Sykes for her dedication to keeping all arÈa$ spot￿$$ and safe
I would also like lo commend our staff team for the way that tsy supwrt ead) othèr
nd covereach otherfs duties as naeded. This Sav68 the Town Hall consM1erab
eosl in terrns of relief staffing.
Whilst the TH&1 was able lo r&main open for essential eduGatioDal and youth supkx)rt
seFvices throughout ts previous year. thi5 year saw a welcome. gradual upb'ck in
other business and events taking place. 2021 also saw the completion tsf the
in5ts11ation of up-tO-d8le audiofvisual equipment.

There is no doubl that the disrupb.on of established booking5 due to the pandemic
had an effect on business, l am sa118fied that our cautious and considered approach
helped us to ensure that the safety of staff and mernbers of the Publ￿ was atthe
forefront of all ourdecisKn making.

Looking b8ck al some of the Èvents and Sessions we have hosted, It's cbar that WÈ
continue to be a welcoming and comfortable space forgroup5 that offer kn, support
and totnpanionship for our residents and usets from the very young (Hello
SummerlAuluTnnlWnterl to the mor& senior of our rylizens (Moodand Communty
Care and Friendship Group) It Is also lovely to hear the vol￿S rais8d In song
coming from the open windows oflhe rnain hall when the Choir are rehearsing
UP5tair5. The vaccination clinics have proved essential to our corllmunity, he5ping to
en8ure that our residents aren't prevented from aceessing essential heallhcare by
having lo travel or face daunting qu8UÈ'8. Thanks aTr due 10 Town Hall staff for all
the telephone erwuiries they've had lo hand￿ in respect of Ihi5.
Every Friday since December 2021. ttE CAB have run the video boolh sessions In
the TH Chamber. There were some initial leelhing problems with the technology, but
the service has been 3 real succe8s and the report Submitted to Town Council Ihis
month is evidence of just how important that h&lp has been. In the coming rnonths.
th8 CA8 is likely lo see an increase in r£quests for help as peDplÈ struggle ia pay
bills at)d find housing.
In this last year, we have agreed to raise the pay of ourTH Manager aftef 50rNe
areful ￿SearCh compfeted by Cllr Kathy Taylor using her Skill as a trained HR
professional to make comparisons and tome to us a recommendation. As you
know K8lhy sadly pa55ed away ln November and she wll be a loss lo this Tru8t and
to ButhfasOevJh. I would like to formerfy record our condolences to Kathy's
family
The Town CounGil continues to make rt dearthal they re￿gniSe ts Town H811 as an
Invaluab￿ resource lo the parish and they will continue lo support It fully- with
rinancial resourTrs and pariupation in planning its future.

Comrnunity Groups.

objèctive5 purpose originally designated by its founders and trustees In 1887
and reinforced by its Conslrtution in 1952 We would like onrE again to thank all the
