The trustees throughout the year were M Athnson CMG MBE, D. Coker FCIS. R Jude PhD, I C Sargeant
FCA and B. Thomas. Sadty, Davhd Coker FCIS died C￿ 8 August 2022.
The charity does not have a principal office. Correspondence regarding the charity should be addressed
to The Honorary Treasurer. Mr l. C. Sargganl The Spinrw. Famham Road, EwshoL Famham. Surrey
GU10 SAU.
There is no chief executive offur for the charity. The hc￿0rary treasurer is reswnsible for ￿oUnting for
monies received and expended.
Details of the charity's bankers and of ts independent examiner are set out on pag8 1. There are r
sollcitors or ffinancial advisers appointed by the ￿lty.
The charity was established by a de&g of trust vthich was s￿ned on the 27 Juty 1%1. Tru$t8é9 ara
appointed ty memters of The Rotary Club of Famham by resolution. It is a requirement for a trustee to
be a member of the Rotsry Club of Famham. 8￿.ng a small charity there are no written procedures for
appointing trustees. Members would tre sounded out warding willingness to act as a trustee. ￿en a
person agreed to be a trustee Ihi8 would be considered by the club council and ￿0m￿Ended to
members for approval by resOlU￿n. No othor bc*Jy can app)int a tr￿lee.
Trustees may already be trustees of another chanty and need no further training. The club has several
people who are trustees of another charity. Any guNlance necessary for a new trustee to carry out hislher
duties would be given by the exisb'ng trustees. The new trustee would be given a copy of'The Essential
Trustee- Vdhat you need to published by The Charity Commission.
As the charity has no staff no deCiS￿n making is delegated.
Trustees may be rerrnved by resdution of the club for any reason may appear to the club to be
sufficient and wrthout as$igning any reason and whereupon the trustee so ￿moVed shall for the purpose of
the exerclse of the statutory p)wer of apwinling new trustees be deemtsj to be dead.
In the event of the club being d1$w￿ed or discontinued or of the club resolvlng to discontinue The
Benevolent Fund the trustees shall hold the Benevolent Fund UFon trusl to transfer the same and for thè
augmentation of the charity fvnd of any other Rotary Club being a fund established solely for purposes which
are charitable at law or to any charitable institution andlor pay and distribute or Otherwise deal wth the same
to and for the benefit of such other charitable fvnds as the club shall direct

The Benevolent Fund are examined anftU￿ty by an independent examiner. The bank account is separate
from those of The Rotary Club of Famham.

No financial obje¢tives a￿ set for the Charrty. The￿ is no Subs￿l8ry undertaknng of the charity.
The president of The Rotary Club of Famham may nominate chartbes for fvjnd raising during hislher te
of office. Suggests'ons to award other grants are made by ￿Em￿rS of the club. This may be as a result of
a request trom a person for a specffic objethe. Agreed requests are submitted to the club Council, and rf
the Council agrees, put to the members and a¢¢epted or ￿leCted by majority vote at a business meeting.
After the collection dates have been tKJo*ed with the Icrtal aLrthorrty. decisK)ns are made for the allocation
of fijnds from street collections to chartbes by the Glub.

During the 12 pefK*J ended 30 June 2022, the Club has raised over £33.000 (versus £15,(KJO in
the previous year) by fund-raising activities and voiuntary dona￿n5 from ￿bers. £28,000 has been
distributed to 26 charitable causes.
The increase wa$ a re$utt of a large rise in donations from members to the charity. This arose from the
closure of the lunch accounts which resuw in several members asking for their credrt balances to be
transferred to the charity. The charities that were sent grants by the fvnd inGluded the Ukraine Appeal,
Action for Carets in Surrey. Helen Arkell Ltyslexia Charity. Afghanistan Appeal, End Polio Now, Rotary
Foundation UK, and many IcKal charibes
In aldrth?n, the club held a Goff Day which raiwj a net arnunt of £8793 IPY £4919) for the Phyllis
Tuckwell Hospice (donations by part￿Jpants were paid dlrecuy to the tharity con¢emed and do not
therefore appear in these accounts).
The annual Cydathon event was again suspentsj during this year to enab￿ the club to foGUS on
$wial fund-raising dance and charity auction, originalty planned for May 2020. Due to the Covid-19
pandemic this event was again postponed but eventualty took place on September 2021, which
boosted the fund ratsing of the year by over £5CNJO.
Totsl charitable donatKins by the club through the Rotsry Club of Fafflham Benevolent Fund and by th8
club's charitable acts"v￿.es were therefore in excess of £37,000 {previous year £20,000). The trustees
Consider that, gNen the continuing prob￿￿ arising from the pandemic and increasing lunch costs that
have reduced the members. lunch attendance5. the performan¢e of the club in raising funds during the
year has been very good.

accounts. Income is raised by members of The Rotary Club of Farnham and a few unwd volunteers.

The revenues are used to meet the needs of Whoffe￿ or whatever is deom8d necessary by the
members of The Rotary Club of Farnham and the trustees from time to time. There no def￿1t in the
fund. The charity is content with bank balances in the knowl8dg8 that fund$ raised hav8 been
distributed in accordance with the wishes of Ihe truslees, members of The Rotary Club of Famham and in
a¢¢ordan¢e with the trust deed.
The ¢hanty'$ policy is to hcAd suffi¢Ent reserves to ensure that it has enough resources to fvnd its
actNlties.
The chanty doo$ not hold any investments or any propty. The charity has no empbyees.
Plans for Future Periods
A fund-raising musical evening celebrating the 1960$ takes place in October 2022 and a revNal of the
Cyclathon event in 2023 is intended together wth a Ihlne Ta5ts'ng Evening. The club will continue to
support the Phyllis TUC￿11 Hospice with their'GolF Day,.
In addition, the Club will cany on raising funds in warKlUS ways for the benefft of deserving causes locally
and overseas.
