The Amshouses were ryealed from the 1632 Will of William B8rriThJer. He was bom in Stavington and
had land In Ihg villwje. He left the Tesidue of hls estate for Ihe building ond m8kin9 of.... almshouses
lor poor mon.. Thay ware flrsl built In 1634. The first recor(1Sng of Ihg ch8rJty Itsolf wa8 In 1641, whan
th8 Vlcar of Stevington and others sought to ensur8 that the almshouses woro run 85 intended by

The purpose of the Charity is to provide Ajmshouses for those in need who have 8 dlrect connection
with Slevington. The Charity owns five freehold ¢)Jttages in Park Road, Stevington. t(vJether with 26
acres of land at Pavenham which at present forms part of the P8venh8m GrAf CiJur5e. Pmpertios are
kept in good repair and rouline management is dealt with by the trustees.
The trustees have complied with their duty to have due regard to the guidance. published by The
Charity Commission Ispeclfically P82). on public benefft in exercising their powers or duts'es.

During 2024 there have been no ch8nge5 to our 8eneficiari8s, we a￿ delighted that all have remained
with us.
The previous Chairman, Richard Adam. retired in March 2024 when he mov&1 to Dubai. Amd at the
same tlm8 Dan Norton also retired, as he was leavSrKJ the village. We WOU￿ like trj thank them tM)th
very much for theirwort and commitment to th8 Charity.
We are very pleased to have welcomed Janel Day as a new trustee in April 2024, as the
representative of Stsvinglon Parish Council.
Weekty contributions were nol increased in 2024. However. the Tnjstees dld Increase contributlons
effecl from 1$1 January 2025, up from £60 per week to £65 par week. having not incr8aset1 them
8irKe the Autumn of 2017. The w*èkly contribution¥ wlll eL)ntinu8 to be ravlÈwed annually.
Durlng 2024 we undertook major renovation of the drains and path ways. together wtth building a
pedestrian rnmp lo Ihe left-hand sNJe of th8 front garden, from th8 ijutside pavemant up to the
fflshou￿. There were also ongoing repair8 to all premise5.
We recommenced our Elgctronic Document Storage prvject Tri July 2024, with assistance an IT
8peciallsL vtho has volunteered lo help us. with Fdannlng, settlng up and Im￿eMentIng the new
systerrL
