Activities

Our aim is to make our region one that actively opposes racism, and hatred based on religious identity so that a fairer, anti-racist North East, is made stronger by the talents of all its people. To this end we provide practical support to organisations and individuals, we undertake research, we support work that builds community cohesion and we try to shift attitudes through public education.

Objects: The Object Of The CIO Isthe Promotion Of Racial Harmony, Equality And Diversity For The Public Benefit Of The North East Of England And Surrounding Areas By For Example:(a) The Elimination Of Discrimination On The Grounds Of Race, Religious Identity Or Diversity;(b) Advancing Education And Raising Awareness In Equality And Diversity;(c) Promoting Activities To Foster Understanding Between People From Diverse Backgrounds;(d) Conducting Or Commissioning Research On Equality And Diversity Issues And Publishing The Results To The Public;(e) Cultivating A Sentiment In Favour Of Equality And Diversity.nothing In This Constitution Shall Authorise An Application Of The Property Of The CIO For The Purposes Which Are Not Charitable In Accordance With Section 7 Of The Charities And Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 And Section 2 Of The Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008.
