**Objects:** THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS:TO RELIEVE THE NEEDS OF WOMEN DETAINED AT DERWENTSIDE IMMIGRATION REMOVAL CENTRE (IRC) BY THE PROVISION OF BEFRIENDING SERVICES, ADVICE, SIGNPOSTING, SUPPORT, CLOTHING, TOILETRIES, SMALL LEAVING GRANTS AND COMFORTS INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WRITING MATERIALS, EYE MASKS, EAR PLUGS AND PHONE CARDS TO ENABLE CONTACT WITH FAMILIES, SOLICITORS OR OTHER SUPPORT NETWORKS.

**Activities:** We are a group of volunteer befrienders who visit the women detained in Derwentside IRC; offering friendship, appropriate advice, signposting and support. We provide, Friendship Packs of personal hygiene items , slipper socks, eye masks; ear plugs for new arrivals; clothing; footwear; suitcases; emergency small grants towards telephone credit and essential leaving costs such as food and travel.
