**Objects:** THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE(A) TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE, PARTICULARLY THOSE IN SOCIALLY OR ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES IN WEST AFRICA AND ELSEWHERE, BY PROVIDING SCHOLARSHIPS, SCHOOL MATERIALS, MENTORING, TRAINING PROGRAMMES AND OTHER FORMS OF SUPPORT THAT ENABLE THEM TO ACCESS AND BENEFIT FROM EDUCATION.(B) TO PREVENT OR RELIEVE POVERTY AMONG CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE WHO ARE IN CONDITIONS OF NEED BY REASON OF FINANCIAL HARDSHIP, DISABILITY, ILL-HEALTH, HOMELESSNESS OR OTHER SOCIAL OR ECONOMIC DISADVANTAGE BY PROVIDING ACCOMMODATION, GRANTS, WELFARE ASSISTANCE, EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT AND OTHER CHARITABLE SERVICES.(C) TO ADVANCE CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE IN LIFE, ESPECIALLY BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY THROUGH LEISURE TIME ACTIVITIES, SO AS TO DEVELOP THEIR SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES TO ENABLE THEM TO PARTICIPATE IN SOCIETY AS INDEPENDENT, MATURE AND RESPONSIBLE INDIVIDUALS.NOTHING IN THIS CONSTITUTION SHALL AUTHORISE AN APPLICATION OF THE PROPERTY OF THE CIO FOR THE PURPOSES WHICH ARE NOT CHARITABLE IN ACCORDANCE WITH [SECTION 7 OF THE CHARITIES AND TRUSTEE INVESTMENT (SCOTLAND) ACT 2005] AND [SECTION 2 OF THE CHARITIES ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 2008].
