Activities

Objects: The Objects Of The CIO Are, For The Benefit Of Irish Citizens, Individuals Who Are Eligible To Apply For Irish Citizenship, And Any Family Members Or Dependants (Families) Of Such Individuals:(a) The Relief Of Poverty Or Financial Hardship Of People Who Are Detained Or Leaving Prison (And Their Families), Including By Providing Grants Or Other Assistance To Meet Basic Needs While In Prison (Which Is Not Otherwise Provided By The Prison System) Or To Meet Resettlement Needs, And By Providing Advocacy And Specialist Advice Which They Cannot Otherwise Afford;(b) To Promote The Rehabilitation, Resettlement, And Re-Integration Into Society, And Reduce Re-Offending, Among Offenders And Former Offenders, In Particular By Providing Advice And Practical Assistance, And By Providing Support To Maintain Contact With Family And Support Networks While In Prison; And(c) To Advance Health, Including The Prevention And Relief Of Sickness, Disease, And Mental-Ill Health Among People Who Are Imprisoned Or Detained, By Facilitating Access To Health Care And Providing Education And Resources.
