Activities
IALIC CIO is a scholarly association which exists to support the advancement of science and education in the field of languages and intercultural communication in the social world. IALIC supports academics, practitioners, researchers and students to share research and advance knowledge and understanding about languages and intercultural communication, including through an annual conference.
Objects: The Objects Of The CIO Are, For The Public Benefit, The Advancement Of Science And Education In The Field Of Languages And Intercultural Communication In The Social World, By Any Exclusively Charitable Means Including By Fostering, Encouraging And Promoting:3.1 The Study Of Languages And Intercultural Communication As An Academic Field Grounded In Critical Inter-Disciplinary Scholarship, Research And Collaboration;3.2 The Advancement Of Knowledge And Understanding In The Academic Field Of Languages And Intercultural Communication;3.3 The Production, Publication And Other Public Dissemination Of Critical Research And Scholarship In The Academic Field Of Languages And Intercultural Communication; And3.4 Critical Research And Scholarship To Increase Public Understanding, Awareness And Appreciation Of:3.4.1 The Diverse Experiences Of People Who Live, And/or Work In Or Across Culturally Different Environments;3.4.2 Multilingualism, And Linguistic And Cultural Diversity, In Our Societies;3.4.3 The Role Of Languages And Intercultural Communication In Facilitating Hospitality And Sanctuary To Migrant Populations;3.4.4 The Role Of Languages And Intercultural Communication In Seeking To Mediate Issues Of Social Justice And Pursue Activism For Social Change; And3.4.5 The Role Of The Arts And Humanities, And The Social Sciences, In Seeking To Benefit Society.
