**Objects:** THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE:FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC TO PRESERVE AND PROMOTE THE HISTORICAL TRADITION OF THE LICHFIELD SHERIFF’S RIDE – THE CEREMONIAL PERAMBULATION OF LICHFIELD WHICH HAS BEEN CONDUCTED ANNUALLY BY THE SHERIFFS OF LICHFIELD SINCE IT WAS COMMANDED IN QUEEN MARY’S CHARTER OF 1553.TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC ON THE HISTORY, TRADITION, SYMBOLISM AND CULTURE OF THE LICHFIELD SHERIFF’S RIDE, IN PARTICULAR BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY BY LECTURES, TALKS, PUBLICATIONS AND OUTREACH ACTIVITIES.

**Activities:** The organization exists to support, promote and facilitate an annual perambulation of the boundary of theCity of Lichfield, on or near the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, as commanded by QueenMary in the Charter of 1553 that separated Lichfield from Staffordshire, making it a separate county withthe right to appoint its own Sheriff.
