## Activities

**Objects:** TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC IN THE SUBJECT OF LANGUAGE, BY (1) ORGANIZING NATIONAL COMPETITIONS FOR SCHOOL STUDENTS:(2) PROVIDING SOME COACHING IN LINGUISTIC ANALYSIS;(3) SELECTING, TRAINING AND ORGANIZING TEAMS TO REPRESENT THE UK AT THE INTERNATIONAL LINGUISTICS OLYMPIAD AND (4) ENCOURAGING AND ENHANCING LINGUISTICS EDUCATION, PARTICULARLY IN SCHOOLS.

**Activities:** UKLO runs annual competitions for school children. In the competition, a competitor sees a page or so of data from an unfamiliar language, such as word lists or sentences, with the challenge of 'cracking the code' so as to be able to provide further forms or translations in that language. The local competition selects competitors to represent the UK in the International Linguistics Olympiad.
