Activities

The charity is dedicated to the collection, preservation and accessibility of heritage records and other materials that reflect the history of the post World War Two Polish diaspora resettlement in regions of Northern England and that of their descendants. We promote learning and understanding of this history and its contribution to British life and history through our exhibitions and events.

Objects: To Promote Polish Art, History, Culture And Heritage Of The Polonia Community Who Resettled After World War Two In Northern England By:-1. Collecting, Preserving, Studying, Interpreting And Exhibiting Archival Materials That Reflect The History, Heritage And Experiences Of The Resettled Post Ww2 Polonia Community And Their Descendants;2. Encouraging Contribution Of Historic Materials That Reflect Post Ww2 Community Resettlement Memories; 3. Promoting Social And Educational Benefits By Making Such Materials Accessible To The General Public;4. Advancing Education For Public Benefit By Contributing To The Advancement Of Arts, Culture, Education And Heritage As Well As To Specific Areas Of Study Including Research; 5. Offering A Platform And Voice For Post Ww2 Polonia Community Members And Descendants To Tell Their Own Stories That Reflect Their History And Memories. To Help Shape Individual And Collective Memories And Social Identity By Connecting With Their Past6. Recognising The Value And Contribution Of All Community Members And Reaching Out To Include Those Under-Represented And Those Who Have Been Historically Marginalised;7. Using Historic Materials To Broaden The Understanding Of The Traumatic Ww2 Circumstances And Lifelong Impact On Post Ww2 Polonia Community;8. Fostering A Sense Of Community Identity And Connection As Well As A Deeper Understanding Of Community History And Achievements;9. Engaging With Communities To Come Together, Share Stories, And Collaborate On Projects Related To Their Local History; And 10. Working With Local Councils And Local Partners, Heritage Institutions, History Groups And Other Similar Organisations. Nothing In This Constitution Shall Authorise An Application Of The Property Of The CIO For The Purposes Which Are Not Charitable In Accordance With 4 [Section 7 Of The Charities And Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005] And [Section 2 Of The Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008].
