Objects: The Objects Of The CIO, Primarily Undertaken, But Not Exclusively, For Those Living In The Merseyside Area, Are:1. To Advance In Life And Help D/deaf And Hearing Young Adults (up To 30 Years Old), Children And Young People, Coda’s (children Of Deaf ,adults), Family Members, Friends And Peers Through:(a) The Provision Of Recreational And Leisure Time Activities, Including Physical Activity And Sport, Provided In The Interest Of Social Welfare, Designed To Improve Their Conditions Of Life;(b) Providing Support And Activities Which Develop Their Skills, Capacities And Capabilities To Enable Them To Participate In Society As Independent, Mature And Responsible Individuals And Members Of Society.2. To Act As A Resource For D/deaf And Hearing Young Adults (up To 30 Years Old), Children And Young People, Coda’s (children Of Deaf Adults), Family Members, Friends And Peers By Providing Advice Andassistance And Organising Programmes Of Physical, Educational And Other Activities As A Means Of:(a) Advancing Education;(b) Relieving Unemployment;(c) Providing Recreational And Leisure Time Activity In The Interests Of Social Welfare For People Living In The Area Of Benefit Who Have Need By Reason Of Their Youth, Age, Infirmity Or Disability, Poverty Or Social And Economic Circumstances With A View To Improving The Conditions Of Life Of Such Persons. The Word “deaf” (with A Capital D) Is Used To Describe An Individual Whose First Or Preferred Method Of Communication Is British Sign Language (bsl), While The Term D/deaf – Now Widely Recognised By Care Service Professionals – Refers To Everyone With A Hearing Loss: Deaf, Deaf, Deafblind, Hard-Of-Hearing And Deafblind People
