SITU promotes, encourages and works towards the creation of a sustainable and integrated transport system for the Ullswater valley which will benefit residents, local businesses and visitors in keeping with the World Heritage status of the Lake District National Park.
Objects: The Objects Of The CIO Are1. To Promote For The Benefit Of People In The Ullswater Valley The Conservation Protection And Improvement Of The Physical And Natural Environment Of The Ullswater Valley, In Keeping With The World Heritage Status Of The Lake District, By Promoting Sustainable Transport To Reduce Carbon Emissions And Traffic Congestion Caused By The Private Car And To Improve Air Quality And Road Safety;2. To Advance The Health And Well-Being Of People In The Ullswater Valley By Promoting Safe Active Travel Alternatives To The Private Car, Including In Particular But Without Limitation, Cycling And Walking;3. To Provide Sustainable Transport Facilities To And In The Ullswater Valley For The Benefit Of The Public, And To Improve Access To Public Transport For People In Areas Of The Ullswater Valley Not Currentlyserved By Public Transport By Working With Transport Companies, Local Authorities, Local Community Organisations, Businesses, Farmers, Land Owners, And Other Relevant Agencies In Accessing Public Transport As A Measure Of Reducing Air Pollution And Its Negative Impact On Public Health.definitions:“people In The Ullswater Valley” Mean Residents Of, Visitors To, And Owners And Employees Of Businesses In, Any Of The Civil Parish Areas Surrounding Ullswater In The Lake District; “sustainable Transport” Means Modes Of Transport Other Than The Private Car Which Meet The Needs Of The Present Without Compromising The Ability Of Future Generations To Meet Their Own Needs, Including Inparticular But Without Limitation, Bus, Boat, Bicycle And Foot.
