These are just a few of the things we have done recently:

We have bought essential household items such as white goods, carpets and second-hand furniture for clients due to their financial constraints. Often this is for those moving into social housing where the accommodation may be provided but without any basic items.

We have helped a lady with health issues whose husband is absent and whose 13-year-old daughter has waited over three years for a mental health diagnosis. We have put her in touch with MindSpace, painted her bedroom and are paying for riding lessons for the daughter who is not in school. Riding is the only thing she does all week and it brings great joy to her. Health and social services have snapped to and we have attended virtual meetings with the Team Around The Family (TAF team).

We have helped de-clutter dwellings where the occupant is unable to do so themselves and even cleared houses that are being sold or where the occupant has died and where the contents are either given directly to those in need or sold, providing much needed funding for the Hub. However, unrestricted clearances have proved too onerous for our resources and we will now only take donated goods which we can either place immediately with a recipient (a beneficiary or sold) or are small enough for ease of handling and which we can be confident will sell almost immediately to generate income for the charity.

A few volunteers are doing jobs that people can’t manage themselves such as shopping, light tasks including gardening and befriending a client with early stage dementia.

We have organised two meetings for all organisations offering support of all kinds to the residents of Chipping Campden. These meetings were attended by some 35 organisations and they proved very beneficial in fostering links between organisations, enabling them to understand better each other’s roles, avoid duplication and encourage cooperation.

Together with Cotswold Friends we organised a St Patrick’s Day Soup Lunch which raised awareness of and raised funds for both us and Cotswold Friends.

We have helped a lady who had been in isolation for heart surgery to reconnect with the community.

We are hoping to make a garden suitable for a young man confined to a wheelchair.

We have donated to other local charities notably Campden Edge and Campden Home Nursing, that provide more specialised support within our own charitable objectives.

We have refreshed our website which signposts support services available.

We were delighted to be presented with the “Unsung Heroes Award” by Cotswold District Council in recognition of the support we offer in the Chipping Campden area.
