Objects: 3.1 The Objects Of The CIO Are:to Advance The Following Charitable Purposes (According To The Law Of England And Wales) By The Provision Of Grants To Other Charities And Non-Profit Organisations:3.1.1 To Promote For The Public Benefit The Conservation, Protection And Improvement Of The Physical And Natural Environment And To Protect And Conserve Fauna And Flora And Encourage Biodiversity In Different Regions Of The World, In Particular, But Not Exclusively In Africa;3.1.2 To Promote Sustainable Development For The Benefit Of The Public By:(a) The Preservation, Conservation And The Protection Of The Environment And The Prudent Use Of Natural Resources;(b) The Relief Of Poverty And The Improvement Of The Conditions Of Life In Socially And Economically Disadvantaged Communities;(c) The Promotion Of Sustainable Means Of Achieving Economic Growth And Regeneration; And3.1.3 To Advance The Education Of The Public In Subjects Relating To Sustainable Development And The Protection, Enhancement And Rehabilitation Of The Environment And To Promote Study And Research In Such Subjects Provided That The Useful Results Of Such Research Are Disseminated To The Public At Large. Sustainable Development Means ‘Development That Meets The Needs Of The Present Without Compromising The Ability Of Future Generations To Meet Their Own Needs’.
