Objects of the CIO

For public benefit, to provide or assist in the provision of public amenities by maintaining, preserving and promoting the Dartmoor Way as a public foot and cycle path and by providing funding to other charities/organisations if funds allow.

Nothing in this constitution shall authorise an application of the property of the CIO for the purposes which are not charitable.

Structure Governance and Management

The Governing Document is the Dartmoor Way CIO Constitution which was approved by the Charity Commission on 21[st] May 2025.

Mr. Baldwin retired as a Trustee on 31[st] March 2025. His contribution to the early success of the CIC and to the conversion to a CIO has been exemplary, the Trustees will miss him and have started a search for a successor.

Risk Management. The Trustees are aware of the need for and are taking steps to introduce a Reserves Policy. Costs are reviewed regularly and a cost reduction plan has been introduced.

Responsibilities of the Trustees

Company law requires the Trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of the affairs of the charitable company as at the balance sheet date and of its incoming resources and application of resources, including income and expenditure, for the financial year. In preparing those financial statements, the management committee should follow best practice and:

The Trustees are responsible for maintaining proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charitable company and to enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Companies Act 1985.

Audit

For the year ending 31[st] March 2026 the company was entitled to exemption from audit under section 477 of the Companies Act 2006 relating to small companies.

The members have not required the company to obtain an audit of its accounts for the year in question in accordance with section 476.

The Trustees acknowledge their responsibilities for complying with the requirements of the Act with respect to accounting records and the preparation of accounts.

These accounts have been prepared in accordance with the provisions applicable to companies subject to the small companies’ regime.

3 Opening Balance Sheet
