Activities

Advance Buddhism through education and outreach, including producing and distributing literature and talks; promote mental health by operating meditation centres offering mindfulness and resilience programmes; and provide activities for children and young people to build skills and capabilities to participate in society as independent, mature individuals.

Objects: The objects of the CIO are: (1) To advance Buddhism in accordance with the statement of faith in such ways as the charity trustees determine, including but not limited to producing and/or distributing literature on the Buddhism and enlightening others about the religion. (2) To preserve and protect the mental health and wellbeing of individuals, in particular but not exclusively by providing and maintaining meditation centres that promote mental wellbeing, mindfulness and emotional resilience. (3) To act as a resource for children and young people by organising educational programmes and other activities as a means of developing their skills, capacities and capabilities to enable them to participate in society as independent, mature and responsible individuals. (4) To support other charitable organisations, projects and initiatives that are organised and operated for the same purposes as the CIO. (5) Nothing in this constitution shall authorise an application of the property of the CIO for purposes which are not charitable in accordance with [Section 7 of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005] and [Section 2 of the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008].
