Introduction

Youth Riders, also known as Ringwood Riders and Verwood Riders, is a charitable incorporated organisation (hereafter the “charity”) that provides coaching and events for children and young adults to engage in scooter, BMX and skateboard riding. It is registered as a charity in England, number 1212183.

This report contains the statement of accounts for the first year of the charity’s existence, from 1st January to 31st August 2025 - an eight month period. Future accounts will be for a 12 month period.

Governance

The charity was formed in January 2025. It registered with the Charities Commission on 17th February 2025 and is governed by a constitution issued on that date. Trustees are appointed for a 3 year term by the charity itself. The list of trustees is shown below:

Several of the trustees are councillors on various local authorities. The charity is fully independent of these public bodies and all trustees act solely in the interests of the charity.

Objects and activities

The objects of the charity are:

“FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT OF THOSE LIVING IN RINGWOOD AND THE SURROUNDING AREA BY PROVIDING OR ASSISTING IN THE PROVISION OF FACILITIES IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL WELFARE FOR RECREATION OR OTHER LEISURE TIME OCCUPATION OF INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE NEED OF SUCH FACILITIES BY REASON OF THEIR YOUTH, AGE, INFIRMITY OR DISABILITY, FINANCIAL HARDSHIP OR SOCIAL CIRCUMSTANCES WITH THE OBJECT OF IMPROVING THEIR CONDITIONS OF LIFE.”

Activities feature BMX, scooter and skateboard coaching, training, competitions and other events provided for children and young adults in Ringwood and Verwood. Other localities have enquired about joining to hold their own local Youth Riders activities, but these have not yet come to fruition.

Funding is mostly from public authority and private grants, business sponsorship and private donations.

The charity is not registered for Gift Aid.

To the best of their knowledge, the trustees assert that they have complied with their duty in section 4 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to guidance on public benefit as published by the Charities Commission.
