The trustees have pleasure in presenting their report and financial statement for the year ending August 2025

OBJECTIVES AND OPPORTUNITIES

The aim of the Charity shall be: -

To provide facilities for recreation or other leisure time occupation by providing an area for use as a community garden and other activities for individuals in Derby and surrounding area, who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disablement, financial hardship or social economic circumstances or for the public at large in the interests of social welfare and with the object of improving the condition of life of the said inhabitants

To advance education for the public benefit particular by providing opportunities for learning about horticulture in and around the community garden

SUMMARY OF THE MAIN OBJECTIVES UNDERTAKEN FOR THE BENEFIT IN RELATION TO THESE OBJECTIVES

The Trustees have borne in mind the delivering of these objectives when planning the years activities

ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE

The goals we set out to achieve have been supported with grants are as follows: -

Ramped wheelchair access and high planting beds - Neighbourhood Board

Storage for equipment and sundries for the garden- DCAP

To set up a free Childrens Gardening Club as 1 in 3 children live in poverty in our area and we needed to ensure we had enough chairs and tables for activities and a gazebo for rainy days- Erewash

Funds to set up a dedicated childrens garden - Foundation Derby

Funds to buy extra equipment and organise garden and crafting activities for a SEND gardening group- Mencap

We also raised funding with plant sales and received some unrestricted funds from the Local Council to help with basic running costs which have ensured the continuity of the Community Garden

Trustee Selection

The trustees yearly undertake a skills audit to ensure those skills are those required of a trustee.

We ensure the Trustees have a range of skills to ensure the range of skills to execute the objectives of the Charity

Risk Management Policy

The Trustees meet to discuss future plans for the Community Garden and any unforeseen risks these plans may have
