Structure, Governance and Management
Dream Catcher Travel Foundation is a registered charity in England and Wales (Charity No. 1211530). The charity was established to provide respite travel opportunities and wellbeing experiences for families with children with disabilities, adults with learning difficulties, and unpaid carers.
The charity is governed by a board of trustees who are responsible for the strategic direction and oversight of the organisation. Trustees meet regularly to review the charity’s activities, safeguarding arrangements, financial position and future plans.
The charity operates primarily with the support of volunteers and trustees. Limited freelance support is used where necessary to assist with programme coordination, administration and outreach.
Objectives and Activities
The objective of Dream Catcher Travel Foundation is to improve the wellbeing and quality of life of people facing disability, complex needs or caring responsibilities by providing opportunities for respite, travel experiences and inclusive activities.
The charity works primarily within the London boroughs of Bromley and Croydon , supporting families and individuals who may otherwise face barriers to accessing holidays and respite experiences.
Activities include:
-
Organising accessible respite breaks for families with children with disabilities
-
Supporting group travel experiences for adults with learning difficulties
-
Providing opportunities for carers to access rest and social connection
-
Building partnerships with local organisations and community groups to increase access to inclusive travel opportunities
Achievements and Performance
During the reporting period the charity focused on establishing its operational structure, building partnerships with local organisations and securing initial grant funding to support its programmes.
The charity successfully secured funding from several grant-making organisations including:
-
National Lottery Community Fund
-
Azelia Hall Charity
-
Clothworkers Foundation
-
Baily Thomas Charitable Fund
The charity also received a small amount of community fundraising income through Easyfundraising .
These grants will support the development and delivery of the charity’s respite travel programmes.
The charity has begun planning its first supported respite travel experiences, with UK respite trips scheduled to begin in August 2026 , followed by a supported group respite trip for members of Croydon Mencap Travel Club planned for the second week of September 2026 .
Financial Review
During the reporting period, the charity had no income or expenditure as no transactions occurred. Future funding is expected in the following financial year.
This includes the delivery of UK respite trips for families with children with disabilities and a supported group respite trip for adults with learning difficulties through a partnership with Croydon Mencap planned for September 2026 .
The charity operates with a largely volunteer-led model to ensure that the majority of funding is directed towards programme delivery and beneficiary support.
Reserves Policy
As a newly established charity, Dream Catcher Travel Foundation does not yet hold significant unrestricted reserves. Funds currently held are primarily restricted grant funding and are allocated towards the delivery of planned respite travel programmes beginning in August 2026.
The trustees aim to build a modest level of unrestricted reserves over time in order to support the long-term sustainability of the charity and ensure continuity of services for beneficiaries.
Plans for the Future
In the coming year the charity intends to deliver its first series of supported respite travel experiences for families with children with disabilities and adults with learning difficulties.
The charity will continue to strengthen partnerships with local organisations in Bromley and Croydon, expand its fundraising activities and secure additional grant funding to support the development and sustainability of its programmes.
The trustees remain committed to ensuring that Dream Catcher Travel Foundation grows sustainably while delivering meaningful and impactful support to beneficiaries.
Trustee Responsibilities
The trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees’ Report and financial statements in accordance with applicable law and Charity Commission guidance.
