The Fitzgerald Foundation Report of the Trusteestorthe poriod 23" December 2024- 31" July 2025 Structure, Governance and Management The Fitzgerald Foundation was established on 23,° December 2024 as a CIO Organisation and is guided by a governing document and is controlled by a Board ofTrustees. The role of the Board of Trustees is to oversee the overall direction and activities of the charity, including its policies and procedures. to ensure that they are consistently in accordance with the charitable purposes defined in the objects clause in its constitution. The Board of Trustees confirms and monitors the strategic direction ofthe charity. The Trustees meet as and when required to consider cases for funding. but will. in the absence of the latter, meet a minimum of once a year. Objectlves We aim to give young adults leavingfoster care the best possible chance to exploit opportunities that might not currently fall under the responsibility of either their foster care families orthe sponsoring LocalAuthority, including by helpingto support the financial cost ofdoingso. The Foundation seeks to support not onlythose young adults that are leavingfoster care that has been organised and supported through Fitzgerald Fostering, but also through 3, p8rty charities that also seek to support those leavingfoster care. Its funding comes through a mix of the profits generated by Fitzgerald Fostering and through 3rd party donations and grants. Achlevement and Performance The Foundation had limited activity during its first few months whilst it started up although much work was done in considering and finalising robust criteria for assessing grant requests that would be put in front of the Foundation. We expect much more activity in the subsequent months and years. Plans for the Future Given that the foundation is designed to supportyoung adults leavingfoster care through Fitzgerald Fostering in the f irst instance. the Trustees will continue to promote this opportunity to all otthe company's registered foster carers both now and in the future. As the company continues to grow, the aim is to generate a bigger income for the Foundation to use notjust for its own looked-after-children but also help others like them through third-paty charitable organisations.
