Structure, Governance, and Management
The Dance Cafe charity is governed by its CIO Constitution and is managed by three trustees responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity. The named trustees have not undergone any changes, and any future changes will be addressed in accordance with the governing document.
Trustees meet monthly during the active months, excluding summer and winter breaks. During these meetings, discussions focus on reviewing activities and finances.
The trustees will identify of any risks to which the charity is exposed and are confident that appropriate systems are in place to mitigate these risks.
Objective and Activities
The Dance Cafe’s objective is to alleviate the needs of adults with disabilities in or around Devon through the following activities:
1. Providing training and education in the performing arts, including dance, music, and theatre.
2. Providing performances opportunities and presenting public performances.
3. Engaging in other activities as deemed necessary by the trustees.
Achievements and Performance
Throughout the year, the charity has consistently demonstrated its commitment to:

Enabling adults residing in and around Devon to pursue their passion for the performing arts.

Securing dedicated premises for the weekly classes.

Recruiting professionals to deliver exceptional tuition, and expanding our curriculum to include a varied dance choreography, voice control, and drama.

Offering financial support and assistance to families facing financial constraints, ensuring that nobody is left out.

By submitting applications to local village halls, schools, colleges, and prominent local theatre venues such as Queens Theatre, Barnstaple, Landmark Theatre, Ilfracombe, and Barnstaple Theatrefest, we can effectively enhance our visibility and spread our work far and wide.
Plans for the Upcoming Year
In the upcoming year, the trustees have set out the following objectives:

Maintaining our commitment to delivering exceptional services to young adults with learning disabilities within the Devon region.

Expanding our reach and impact by collaborating with local assisted living and care homes to ensure that we provide opportunities to all those with a disability who seek our assistance.

By exposing our performances to a broader audience, we aim to educate and enlighten the general public to a greater extent.

Offering a wider breadth of areas covered by the performing arts offering more opportunities to our members
