Additionally, the band perfoTTns at the request of other ¢hariti¢s to raise money for their particular Causes.
Having regard to the activitie5 and achi¢vernents of the Band the trnstees are of the opinion that Derwent Brass has

During this period the full band cornpeted in thrtt contests, p¢rforned seveft full band ￿nCerts and also perfomied two

Report of the trustees
lor ¢he year period 31 December 2025
As an organisation Denvent Brt8s Ètternpts io mitigate the iJnpact on its rnelnbers lives by striving for one fully attended
rehearsal per week, except forany additional rehearsals required priorto an importantevent. We continue whereverpos5ible
to accommodate menbers, work and family commithients and li is ihese fac￿r& which have been the reason5 behind the
relative stability of the band memknhip over time. The band intends io remain true to this ethos and endeavour to
accommodate its members in this way going foTh¥ard.
The WEbsite at www.derwentbr&ss.corn is a good source of more detailed infonnalion about the band.
Financial revieiy
Total income for the period was £56280 and total expenditure was £63.168.
Monies were transf¢rr¢d from the unincoiwrated charity Detwent Brd&s (Charity number 1146146) of £39.663 and
equipment (including music library and instTuments) were transferred iotalling £77.486.
1 otal cash balances of £32.775 were on hand at the 31" December 2025.
The Band maintains a reasortable amount of liquid funds in order to replace equipment or instrnments as necessary (which
can be Yery expensive as the larger instruments cost in excess of £7.000) but also as a 'safety net. when putting on self-
promoted concerts in the unlikely event that they aTe noi successful due to unforeseen C￿cuMstanCes.
The Tn￿tteS plan io continue to reinforce the qualiry of equipmelli and instruments that the band owns. In this way we aim
to maintain the level of musical perfomiance and the standar(b of Derwent Brd55 ill the ChaTnpionship section of Brili5h
Brass Banding.
Risks
Los5 of Grant Incorne
Grant income is applted for in order to suppon specific projects. This fortn of [n¢0￿e is unpredictable by nature and so
the charity does not rely on it for its basic operaiions and h&8 other sources of incorne.
Diminishing Audiences
The Trustec5 have seen, in recent years, that audience figures are generdlly dropping for arts organisations. Particularfy
with brass bands, the average age of the audience is a Concem as it is generally a more elderly audience. The Trustees are
tying to address this with incre&8ing edtscational work and innovattng with concerts that appeal to a rnore youthfiLI
dynamic.
