We’ve had an incredible year in 2025 at Orchard Women. We have loved seeing God break into so many women’s lives, bringing freedom, hope, and new purpose.
The 2025 Conferences gathered over 3,300 women to worship together and encounter Jesus as we unpacked our theme, Good Father. Thanks to the generous giving of individuals at Gas Street and further afield, we were able to fund many women to join us at our conferences this year. This included a group of believers from a Muslim background; for many, it was the first Christian event they had ever attended. One attendee shared this message:
“Just wanted to say the event was really good. I was very nervous beforehand, but once everyone started to pray I forgot where I was. I was overwhelmed with love for God and amazed and thankful that I got to experience this.”
Orchard Youth once again gathered at Gas Street, where the team saw young women come to faith and be equipped to serve Jesus in their schools and friendship groups — what a joy to witness! We also hosted our new, larger Senior Leaders Retreat, which saw 130 female leaders gather in Oxford. We witnessed the Holy Spirit move in unexpected and joyful ways.
The podcast continues to go from strength to strength. This year, we unpacked the stories of many of the unnamed women in the Bible, with the ongoing aim of inspiring and theologically equipping our wonderful listeners. We love hearing feedback like this:

## **Our Charitable objects are;**
THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT AS FOLLOWS: (1) THE ADVANCEMENT OF THE CHRISTIAN FAITH IN THE UNITED KINGDOM AND OVERSEAS, PARTICULARLY, BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY, BY EDUCATING, MENTORING AND COACHING PREDOMINANTLY BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY WOMEN AND GIRLS IN THE CHRISTIAN FAITH THROUGH WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS. The Orchard Women creates Spirit-led spaces where women encounter God's presence, discover their identity in Christ, and step boldly into their God-given calling, resulting in transformed churches, families, and communities
The 2025 Orchard Conference brought together over 3,000 across Birmingham and London for two days of worship, biblical teaching, and Spirit-led encounter. With 57% returning from previous years, The Orchard continues to build a growing movement of women walking in their Godgiven identity and stepping into their calling.

## **Orchard Youth**
Our conference for girls ages 11-17. This will run in Birmingham and London in 2026. In 2025, we saw young women coming to faith and being empowered to live full lives, committed to and shaped by Jesus. We also ran events at many of the Christian Summer Festivals such as Wildfires, Focus and Satellites.

## **Senior Leaders retreat**
We gathered 100 female leaders from across denominations and from the UK and further afield for 2 days in Oxford. We create a space where these leaders can be refreshed and equipped. Here’s what a 2025 attendee said - ‘It was a beautiful time to connect with other female leaders, I felt at home immediately, and a lovely space was created.’
## **The Orchard Podcast**
Our popular podcast unpacks women from scripture, aiming to inspire and theologically educate listeners.
We love hearing from listeners like this ‘As I’ve listened I have found the confidence to be the woman of God that Jesus has called me to be, leading a church and applying to study theology and understanding that I am not ‘less than’ or a ‘will do’ solution, I am called by the Lord to be me where he asks me to be. ## **Trustees Report**
## **Chairs Report For the Period 15 November 2024 to 31 December 2025**
The work of The Orchard Women is really important. More and more women need spaces where they can feel encouraged and supported. As a Board it is our job to make sure The Orchard Women has leadership and resources to help these women.
The period ending 31 December 2025 was a pivotal inaugural year in this regard. Following our registration as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) in December 2024, a primary focus for the Board was establishing a formal governance framework that supports our expanding national reach while maintaining the integrity of our charitable objects.
Our impact this year has been significant. We successfully gathered over 3,300 women across our Birmingham and London conferences, witnessed the spiritual growth of young women through Orchard Youth, and provided essential theological equipping to 130 female leaders at our Senior Leaders Retreat in Oxford. These achievements demonstrate that our mission to advance the Christian faith and promote gender equality is being met with both strategic clarity and measurable success.
Governance and risk management have remained at the forefront of our activities. The Board has implemented comprehensive oversight, including the management of a robust insurance portfolio and clear conflict-of-interest protocols regarding executive remuneration. We have also focused on diversifying our reach, notably through the Orchard Podcast, which has achieved over 114,000 plays, ensuring our resources are accessible to those unable to attend physical events.
Even though there are some challenges facing charities right now our supporters have been faithful and generous. This gives us the confidence to plan the future. This coming year we will be launching Orchard Youth London and move our London conference to a bigger venue.
I want to thank our CEOs, Rachel Hughes and Amy Hughes and all of our staff and volunteers for their work. The Orchard Women is committed to helping women with honesty and excellence.

As trustees we are confident that we have followed our charitable objectives this year and have seen change for the public benefit. We have referred to the Charity Commission’s guidance on reporting on public benefit when preparing this annual report.
## **Fundraising**
**We were blessed that both Trinity Church and Gas Street Church each gave a 25k seed fund when we began the CIO. We are so appreciative of this support and encouragement. We were able to secure a grant totally 60k from a Stewardship trust which enabled us to grow our team.**
**Through the year we were encouraged by several donors giving small and large gift, all significant and gratefully received as well as 16k which was gitted by individuals attended our autumn confernces.**

## **Financial Review**
The trustees present an overview of the charity’s finances for the period 15 November 2024 to 31 December 2025. The Orchard Women has unrestricted reserves of £106,853 of which £72,157 are considered free reserves.
The advanced ticket sales for conferences and leaders retreats in 2026 amounted to £93,000.
## **Income and Expenditure**

## **Management of Financial Risk**
We aim to maintain a minimum of free reserves of £50,000 which will cover:
- predictable fixed commitments for events and venues,
- one month’s core staffing costs,
- a buffer to manage delayed income or essential supplier payments.

## **Structure and Governance**
The Orchard Women is a registered Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) in England and Wales and is run in accordance with its charity constitution. As a CIO, if The Orchard Women is wound up, the members of the CIO have no liability to contribute to its assets and no personal responsibility for settling its debts and liabilities.
We have Public Liability Insurance of £5,000,000 for (policy number ACY 2441167), Employees Liability of £10,000,000 and Trustees and Directors Indemnity of £250,000.
Rachel Hughes, CEO and Amy Hughes, CEO attend the trustee meetings. They are not party to any decisions regarding their salaries or employment.
The Orchard Women trustees are members of the CIO and appointed by a resolution at trustee meetings. They are responsible for governance of The Orchard Women, ensuring it is meeting its charitable purposes.
## **Risk management**
The trustees take risk management seriously and have identified the following risks and put in place processes to mitigate them. We have policies in place to mitigate any risks in the following areas; financial risk, IT security and protection, safeguarding and health and safety.

## **The Year Ahead**
**In 2026, we will be moving to a weekly podcast which we hope will reach many more people. We will also be launching Orchard Youth London, which is a significant new venture for us alongside moving to a much larger London venue for our Women’s conference. We long for God to continue empowering women, and we are deeply thankful to play a part in what He is doing.**

## **The Orchard Women Independent Examiner’s Report to the Trustees For the Period 15 November 2024 to 31 December 2025**
I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the charity for the period
15 November 2024 to 31 December 2025 which are set out on pages 14 to 22
As the charity trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
The charity’s gross income exceeded £250,000 and I am qualified to undertake the examination by being a qualified member of Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, which is one of the listed bodies.
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect,:
- the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Act; or
- the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or
- the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

## 1. **Accounting Policies**
## **Incorporation**
The Orchard Women was registered in England and Wales with the Charity Commission as a CIO Foundation on 15th November 2024. These financial statements are for the period 15 November 2024 to 31 December 2025.
## **Basis of Preparation**
The financial statements are prepared
- in accordance with the Statement of Recommended Practice (the Charities SORP) 2005,
- in sterling, which is the functional currency of the charity,
- under the historical cost convention.
- Monetary amounts in these financial statements are rounded to the nearest pound.
The principal accounting policies adopted in the preparation of the financial statements are set out below.
## **Going Concern Basis**
The trustees have assessed whether the use of going concern basis is appropriate and have considered possible events or conditions that might cast significant doubt on the ability of the charity to continue as a going concern. The trustees have made this assessment for a period of at least one year from the date of approval of these financial statements. In particular, the trustees have considered the charity’s forecasts and projections and have taken account of pressure on income. After making enquiries, the trustees have concluded that there is a reasonable expectation that the charity has
adequate resources to continue in operations existence for the foreseeable future. The charity therefore continues to adopt the going concern basis in preparing financial statements.
## **Income**
Gifts and donations are recognised in the period which it was receivable. Income related to conferences and retreats is recognised in the period of the event; income received for events in future periods is shown as deferred income in the balance sheet.
## **Expenditure**
Direct charitable expenditure comprises all expenditure relating to the activities carried out to achieve the objectives.
Expenditure is allocated directly to the expenditure headings as far as practically possible to reflect the activities of the charity.
Expenditure is included in the Statement of Financial Activities on an accruals basis, inclusive of any VAT which cannot be recovered. Expenditure relating to conferences and retreats is recognised in the period of the event; expenditure incurred for events in future periods is shown as prepayments.

## **Fund Accounting**
Restricted funds are subject to restrictions imposed by the donor. These are accounted for separately from unrestricted funds. The charity did not receive any restricted funds in this accounting period.
Unrestricted funds are those which are not subject to restrictions, and any surpluses may be applied in furtherance of any of the charity’s objectives.
## **Cash and Cash Equivalents**
Cash and cash equivalents include cash at banks and in hand and short-term deposits with a maturity date of three months or less.
## **Debtors and Creditors**
Debtors and creditors receivable or payable within one year of the reporting date are carried at their transaction price.
## **Pension**
The charity operates a defined contribution stakeholder pension scheme. The assets of the scheme are held separately from the charity with NEST.
## **Critical Accounting Estimates and Areas of Judgement**
In the view of the trustees in applying the accounting policies adopted, no other judgements were required that have a significant effect on the amounts recognised in the financial statements nor do any estimates or assumptions made carry a significant risk of material adjustment in the next financial year.

## **Prepayments**
This is expenditure incurred for events being held in 2026.
## **Deferred Income**
This is monies received, principally ticket sales, for events being held in 2026.
## **Pre-incorporation reserve**
The Orchard Women started as a joint venture between Gas Street Church Birmingham and Trinity Church Nottingham and organised conferences prior to incorporation.
The pre-incorporation reserve consists of:

## **Related parties**
The Orchard Women received a total of £10,000 unrestricted donations from its trustees in the period.
