Structure Governance and Management** - Trust Deed - CIO - Through word of mouth and member connections – following discussions with existing trustees and voted on at Trustee Meetings. **3. Objectives and Activities** - To promote social inclusion for the public benefit by preventing, in particular but not exclusively, older men in Trawden and the surrounding area, from becoming socially excluded, relieving the needs of those people who are socially excluded and assisting them to integrate into society through the provision of facilities in which they can meet to undertake, jointly or individually, creative, physical or recreational activities, learn or pass on skills and knowledge and support each other socially. For the purpose of this clause 'socially excluded' means being excluded from society, or parts of society, as a result of one or more of the following factors: unemployment; financial hardship; bereavement or old age; ill health (physical or mental). - Approximately 150 open sessions of 2.5 hrs each hosting men from within the area - working on for the majority of the time on wood working projects for themselves but in the most instances for the wider community - either community groups or private individuals. - The trustees have complied with their duty in Section 17(5) of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit when exercising any powers or duties to which the guidance is relevant. ## **4. Achievements and Performance** - Provided benefit to over 30 members - Delivered projects to 8 different community organisations - Delivered projects to 20 private individuals (local residents) - Hosted over 150 different sessions - Delivered knowledge and skills to 3 outside groups (guides, scouts, local wildlife group) ## **5. The grant was for £18,400, and approximately £13,400 remains unspent. - We hold around £6,000 in reserve to cover the costs of repairs and renewals of the building together with tools and equipment. The Man Shed is in a cotton mill that we estimate to be over 150 years old and so needs some TLC from time to time. ## **6. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Act and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to: - Examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act; - Follow the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the Act); and - State whether particular matters have come to my attention. ## **Basis of independent examiner's statement** My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair' view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below. ## **Independent examiner's statement** In connection with my examination, no material matters have come to my attention which give me cause to believe that in, any material respect: - The accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or - The accounts did not accord with the accounting records.
