Background
Mr Sheridan has a complete woodworking work shop which he is looking to donate to the community. The charity was set up to facilitate this transfer and operation, initially via the Stover Country Park (Stover). Stover had received a large National Lottery grant to build a new workshop. They require a lot of woodworking activity to maintain the Park, all of which they contract out.
We approached them with the idea that they could have the equipment for their new build workshop and JSCW could have access to it. We spent many months in discussions and had basically agreed to the transfer when they told us that, at best, we could only have access to the equipment for one day a week. This was not feasible for us to do what we wanted to so the idea was dropped.
Other options are being explored e.g. there is a Men’s Shed operating in Bovey Tracey and vacant premises have been viewed.
Unfortunately, due to illness and bereavement, Mr Sheridan is not in a position to be involved at the moment so all plans are on hold.
The Future
Once Mr Sheridan’s circumstances have improved we will continue to try to find a way of realising our aims.
Finance Report
As there has been no activity there is no financial report.
