Minutes previous AGM: The minutes of previous annual meeting had been circulated and were agreed as an accurate record
Chairman’s Report: The Chairman’s report had been circulated earlier. Chairman Martin Eddy highlighted the key points of the last 12 months including the revived Wassail, additional events we were involved with, Archive donations, and our finances. He reminded the meeting that we had agreed the purchase of a new printer and computer. Suite 3 had become available, and the Charity had leased it from the Parish Council as display space at no cost to the charity. The lease had now been surrendered. The Chairman thanked the Trustees, archive volunteers, the secretary and the Treasurer for their work in supporting the charity.
Chris Timms had announced that he wished to step down as Secretary having been in the role for over a decade. He was presented with a bottle of wine and Barbara with a bunch of flowers as thanks for their work.
Hon. Secretary’s Report: Chris thanked the meeting for their gift. His report had been circulated earlier. He and Barbara had digitized 11,907 baptismal, marriage and burial records which could now
be viewed on our website. He thanked all the volunteers in the Archive. Work has concentrated on the Olliver and Kent ledgers with booklets published about the Olliver ledgers and one on the Bubonic plague.
The website received 3892 hits this year and the Facebook page has over 150 followers. Donations continue to be dropped at the Archive including information on the Gedye family and more modern records of St Neot Post Office and shop.
Hon. Treasurer’s Report
Harry Bennet reported that a slight loss of £44 had been made this past year but our balance of £10,120 remains healthy. A bank deposit account had been opened with the HTB and £7000 transferred to this interest-bearing account. Our current Lloyds account is being moved from a community account to a charity account. The annual membership fee is £15 and a gift aid form is to be circulated to the membership. It was agreed that the meeting fees for non-members be raised to £3 per meeting and remain at £1 a meeting for members. The Chairman offered his thanks to Harry for all the hard work in keeping our accounts in good order
The Chairman proposed and Sally Mollard seconded that the accounts be adopted. All voted in favour.
Presentation of the 2026 Programme
This year’s programme focussed on local settlements and houses. Chris was thanked for his help in assembling it. There were no events in April and May because our meeting day falls on the Bank Holiday. There followed a debate as to whether the date should be moved by a day or a week.
Any other business
Retirement of and reappointment of two Trustees as per the constitution: The constitution states that Trustees are appointed for three years and should retire in rotation. Isobel Harvey and Mim McCormack offered their resignations and offered to stand again. The Charity having only been established a year the meeting was content for then to continue serving as Trustees for a further three years. It was proposed by Nick Hart and seconded by Chris Timms that they be reappointed. Nick Hart asked if the Charity was able to adopt additional Trustees. Chairman to investigate.
The meeting finished at 7.50 pm.
