Trustees' report (continued) for theperiod ended 30 June 2025
Objectives and activities
The charity's objects
The advancement of the amateur sport of football for children in South Leeds for the public benefit by the provision of or assistance in the provision of facilities for participation in the sport of football.
The charity's main activities
The Club's junior teams play their matches on the grass pitches behind Middleton Leisure Centre and on Acre Road behind Middleton Primary School. We also train on the 3G pitch at the Leisure Centre and at the John Charles centre for sport.
Public benefit statement
In setting our objectives and planning our activities our trustees have given serious consideration to the Charity Commission’s general guidance on public benefit and in particular the advancement of amateur sport.
Achievements and performance
Key Achievements for 2024/2025 Season
Implementation of new club administration system – Sport Easy
Following the loss of c.£5k in unpaid subscription fees in 2023/2024, the committee voted to introduce a tailored software system that specialised in providing an overall package for a football club of our size, covering events scheduling, communications, registrations and fee collection. The package selected was called Sport Easy and this has been embraced by both coaches and parents which has resulted in much better control of incoming subscription fees with only £60 left outstanding for the 2024/2025 season.
Establishing the club as a registered charity
It had been a long-standing ambition for the juniors section of the club to become a registered charity. Following attendance at some workshops which offered support on how to do this, the application was submitted and accepted in November 2024. This allows the club to apply for additional funding which is only open to charities and also to claim gift aid where applicable. The charity has 5 trustees who are all also members of the committee to ensure continuity.
Run our own gala
Again, for the last few years there has been a demand from coaches and parents to see MPFC run its own gala. After evaluating the appetite for volunteers to support the event, the committee agreed to go for it and the weekend speaks for itself in terms of the success. The togetherness of the club felt unreal over the weekend (in July 2025) and we believe we have a surplus of c.£5k.
Long-term project funding and initial actions to get underway
The most ambitious long-term aim of the club is to design, plan and build a clubhouse. In order to do this, we have to own or lease the ground on which we want to build it. The club therefore applied to be part of the Home Advantage Programme (HAP) and was 1 of only 30 successful clubs across the country. The programme will allow us to potentially access up to £250k of funding and has the support of the council to work with us as required (this has been signed up to, not just a verbal commitment).

Trustees' report (continued) for the period ended 30 June 2025
Achievements and performance (continued)
There are 4 key areas we get support in:
-
Obtaining a 25-year lease on the pitches (Leisure Centre ones only)
-
Ground maintenance to cut, mark & improve these pitches
-
A “hub” which can provide a toilet & hot food
-
A capital project of our choosing (which will be the clubhouse)
Initial meetings have been held and recommended solicitors appointed to start discussing heads of terms on the lease with the council.
Financial review
The net receipts for the year were £30504, including net receipts of £30504 on unrestricted funds and net receipts of £0 on restricted funds.
These included £39,290 from periods prior to incorporation of the club as a CIO, resulting in a deficit of £8,786 during this accounting period.
Reserves policy
The charity's free reserves, at the year end were £30,504.
The trustees have not yet adopted a reserves policy, which will be considered in due course. The only concern is that we have benefitted from a substantial grant towards winter training and, should this not continue, we may need to adjust that provision or increase subscription fees.
Approved by the board of trustees on 14/4/2026

To the trustees of Middleton Park Juniors Football Club
Please note that this letter is addressed to each member of your trustee board. I suggest that it is copied to each member and considered at your next meeting.
Dear Trustees
Please print out a minimum of two copies of the accounts emailed to you.
Would you please arrange for each copy to be approved by the trustees, signed in black ink (on the trustees’ annual report and the statement of assets and liabilities pages). Please then either email me a scan of your signed accounts or (if that is difficult) attach a photo of just the signed pages.
I will then email you my examiner’s report with a jpeg signature which you can print and insert into your original signed copy. I will also email you a pdf version of the accounts which show the name of the person who signed the accounts and the date signed for the purpose of filing at the Charity Commission.
The Charity Commission prefers to have the accounts filed online and the pdf version of the accounts referred to above will enable you to do this. Receipt is required at the Charity Commission no later than 10 months from the end date of your latest accounts. Please do not scan and pdf the signed accounts as this will create a file which is too big for filing.
I would like to thank Andrea for the records provided and responding to my queries during the course of my work.
