Our activities are to promte. improve, develop and maintain public education in. and appreciation of,
the art and science of music and the arts in all their aspects by any means the trustees see fi(
including through the presentation of public events and by such other ways as the charity, through its
trustees, shall determine from time to time.

community lrfe, with a strong emphasis On accessibility and inclusion.

Our initiatives include educational workshops, collaborative community projects, and cultural
performances that expose attendees le diverse perspectives. These activities are designed to deepen
appreciation of the arts and music, encourage empathy, and build community engagement. Volunteer
opportunibes also allow residents to contribute meaningfijlly while gaining insight into local social
issues.

During this first period, the Charity has undertaken a number of events to further rts objectives.
Events durlng our flrs¢ year
Ampthill Big Tent Weekend11 Ith lo 13th Juty 20251.. A thre￿aY famity-friendly festival of live music
and arts, h95ted in o large weatherproof tent in central Amplhill.This was very well received, and il is
anticipated that the event will becomo an annual feature of the town's diary. Overall just under 5,000
people attended over the weekend.
Blg Tent Trlbute nlght {Friday 11th July) This was headlined by tribute bands.. Planet ABBA
and Now That's Wnat I call BrilPop, with a local DJ also playing. A local school band competition
winners opened the evening.
Blg Tent Clas$l¢s ISalurday12th July) featured Ampthill Concert Orchestra, playing music of all
genres. They were joined by the Rwk Choir and guests Robert Daws, George Anthony and
Bonaventura Bottone. This was a musical feast for all. Everyone was welcome to bring a pi¢nic and
enjoy the fun with their family.
Big Tent Fete (Sunday 13th July} had stalls and activities organised by local school PTAS and
youth organisations, and ECO and sustainability were a slron9 theme. There were craft and story
tents, a football goal area with special guest David James. In the Tent there were local bands and
rnusicians, including the Amplhill Town Band, and refreshment5 were available. The entries to our
first Ampthill ECO sculpture compelilbon were on display and judged by public voting.

Other events in Ihe first year
VE80 Swing Band concert wrth the Gary Wood Band was held on the 2nd May 2025 with over 100
attendees. The event, part of the VE Day 80th Anniversary celebrations, was described a$ 'an
evening of music and dance..
VE80 chlldren's celebratlon was hetd on the Bank Holiday Monday 5th May 2025 . We filled the 50
places for children as planned. The event created an athork for display al the Big Tent Weekend.
VJ80 Commemoratlon events were held at different locations in the town. One was at Richmond
Manor Care Home with resKlents, some of whom remembered the day itself in 1945, followed by a
commemorab.on on the Town Square wrth the High Sheriff, Camilla King and Ampthill Town Mayor
Cllr Stephen Addy and the lady Mayoress, Sally Hawkins in attendance. It was officiated by Padre
Holroyd
Cellldh evening We held a ceilidh evening with the Spring Loaded Ceilidh Band on the 16th M?y
wh￿h was a new experience ts many (around 80 attendees) who asked for more.

These events have enabled more from the local community of 811 ages to participate in Ihe
performance of art and music, lo enjoy and appreciate arts with others, and has enabled more
volunteers to come fo￿ard.

Ampthlll Recitals
Ampthill Cultural Events is allowing Ihe continuation of weekly classical ￿C￿81S by collaborating with
Simon Davies who orpJinated the Kalhenne Concerts. Wth his move away from Ampthill to Yorkshire
it looked initially that the concerts would have lo cease. Initially we have planned a season of 10
weekly recitals for the Autumn season.
Free Art Workshop
We are providing a workshop entitled "Discover the Art of using Alcohol Inks. for disadvantaged
groups to test the offer of making different artslcraft workshops accessible to special groups.
Ceilidh evenlng 17th October 2025. The first ceilidh evening was so popular we will have the Spring
Loaded Ceilidh Band back for October 17th 2025
Ampthill at the Musicals
This is an evening 129th November 202S) celebrating the magic of musical Ihealre and shows wilh
performances by talented Iwal v￿aliSeS to raise funds for the Ampthill Mayor's Charities
Aragon Day Festival
We are planning to revive a popular lo¢al event on June 14th 2026 with other related events leading
up to the day. This will involve costumes of the Tudor period worn by participants and musical
performances of the period.
Ampthlll Blg Tent Weekend 2026 9th -121h July 2026
Building on our 2025 themes, better but never bigger and based on feedback from our survey, with
very positive responses and 96% saying they will come again, we have made some improvements
incluéing-.
Thursday 9th July, the Schools Summer concert is being expanded lo beco￿￿ Big Tent Schools
irt¢luding all the local schools, not just the Alameda School. We want to focus on encouraging music
amongst the school age generations who are the musicians of the fvture.
Friday 1 Oth July is Tribute5 Night again and next year will feature UKQueen, a Queen tribute group.
Saturday 11th July aftemoon and evening will have performances by the Ampthill Concert Orchestra
and the Amplhill Town Band playing popular classics. Again, everyone will be Invited to bring chairs
and a picnic and there will be food and drink available to buy on site.
Sunday 12th Juty will include a Parade through the town before ending at the festival site. This is a
revival of a parade which used to happen in the town but which had fallen into abeyance. On the
festival site will be stalls from schools and I￿al community groups, with art and literature tents. In the
main tent will be musical performances and again, everyone is welcome to bring a picnic.

Achlevements and performance
During this first period, the charity has undertaken a number of events lo fvrther its objectives
including the staging of the 'Big Tent Weekend, over the course of 3 days from 11th-131h July. This
was very well received and it is anli¢ipated that the event will expand over the next few years.
Financlal revlew
The charity has recorded a surplu5 of £1,607 during the fir51 accounting period which is considered
salisfaclory. Much knowledge and experience of staging events has been gained during this first
period which will stand the charity in good stead moving forward.
Reserves Policy
The Charities policy is that 811 surplus reserve$ are lo be utilised to assist funding future events.

charity'l for the period ended 31 August 2025.
Responsibilitles and basis of roport
As the Iruslees of the charity you ar8 responsible for the preparation of the financial statements in
accordance with the requir8menls of the Chanlies Act 2011 I'the Act'i.
I report in respect of my examinalioll of the charity's finanaal stslemenls carried out under section 145
cf the 2011 Act and in carying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given
by the Charity Commission under seclron 145{5llb) of the Act.
