Charity Objectives The key objectives activitles of Warrington Sikh Foundation are: Th8 advancement of the Sikh religion forthe public benefit in accordance with the statement of the Sikh faith. mainly but not exclusively, by means of meetings. events• producing and distributing literature on the Sikh faith and by other activities of a teaching nature to enlighten others about the Sikh falth. ArranginggatherinES monthlyfor community cohesion. discussion of scriptures and faith. tackling loneliness. Arranging of monthly communal walks in green spaces for all ages, to enhance mental health, promote physical health and demonstrate selfless seiCe to the wider communily, in line with Sikh philosophy. Providing 1-.1 support for careers advice and ernployability for individual young members of the community on request, to demonstrate selfless service in line with Sikh philosophy. Providing 1-1 advice on request relatingto care of the elderly in the community. and council services for over 65s; to demonstrate self less service in line with Sikh philosophy. Structure, Governance and Management The charity was formed as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation on 315t October 2024. The charity is governed by its constitution which is 8 CIO Foundation. It is governed by its trustees who meet regularly. It is managed by 8 Board ofTrustees, the Trustees are appointed on a voluntary basis. and are people from the Sikh communitywith religious, educational and business experience. Progress and Achievements The main objective in the charity's firstyear was to Greate awareness of its existence and provide the Sikh communitywith opportunities to meet up in gatherings for the benefit oftheirfaith knowledge, health and to demonstrate their commitmentto selfless service of others. and this has been achieved. Approximately 200 people have been able to engage with and access the activities provided by this charity. Mostly beingfrom Warrington and surrounding areas. from the Sikh and Indian community. 1. Provision of free transport to venues for those unable to drive (elderly, non- drivers} has enhanced the capacity of people to engage and built strong friends. networks.
- Provision of positive discussion of the Sikh scriptures in an inclusive manner in Punjabi and English, has enhanced understandinE of the Sikh philosophy of selfless service to the community. and further encouraged community cohesion. Enh8ncement of mental and physicalwellbeingthrough group walks in green spaces has been exceptionally well received and demonstrated. based on community feedback. The next years objectives will involve further growth and the att8inment of a permanent premises from which to operate with more frequent activities. Fundraising activities are currently in progress 85 many donors are being made aware ofthe future objectives of the charityto establish a permanent place buildingfrom which to operate in a more standardised manner. Public Benefit The charity is very much in its infancy and is expecting a rapid growth in donations this year, nowthat awareness of its purpose has been established across the wider Sikh community in Warrington. All costs to date have been absorbed bythe trustees, the hiring of a community centre. or provision oftransport. drinks and snacks. Risk assessment The principal risk and uncertainty faced bythe charity is continuingto operate without fixed premises which the charity is lookingto secure. Financial Review The charity received no income or expenditure in the year. No trustee received any remuneration or reimbursement for expenses duringthe period. As the charity held no financial reserves at the end of the financial period, no formal reserves policy has yet been established. Grants No grants were received or paid in the year.
