In selecting individuals for appointment as trustees, the charity trustees have regard to the skills, knowledge and experience needed for the effective administration of the CIO. ## **Ex Officio Trustee** The Resonate Church Director of Global Church Planting serves as an ex officio trustee for as long as they hold that office. ## **Organisational Structure** The trustees are responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity. They meet as required to oversee the charity’s activities and ensure compliance with its charitable objectives. ## **Objectives and Activities** ## **Objects** The object of the CIO is: For the public benefit, the advancement of the Christian faith in Reading and such other parts of the United Kingdom as the charity trustees may from time to time decide. ## **Activities** During the period, the charity focused on initial exploratory and engagement activities in Reading. These included: - Sending a team of volunteer missionaries on a vision trip in November to discern potential long-term involvement in serving the local community. - Hosting a team of volunteer missionaries from Resonate Church (USA), who undertook research into the spiritual and practical needs of the population, including within the university context. - Mobilising approximately 30 volunteers to engage with the local community in order to better understand both spiritual and felt needs. These activities were undertaken to inform future ministry development and ensure that the charity’s work is appropriately aligned with the needs of the community. ## **Achievements and Performance** This reporting period represents the charity’s initial phase of operation. The principal achievement during the year was the successful completion of a foundational research and engagement phase in Reading. Outcomes included: - Gaining insight into the needs of the local population, including students and residents. - Establishing initial relationships within the community. - Mobilising and coordinating a volunteer base to support engagement activities. - Identifying opportunities for future service, outreach, and partnership. This work has provided a strong foundation for future charitable activities and strategic development. ## **Public Benefit** The trustees confirm that they have complied with their duty under section 17 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the Charity Commission’s public benefit guidance. The charity’s purpose is the advancement of the Christian faith for the public benefit. During the reporting period, this was demonstrated through activities that were open and accessible to the wider public. The charity provided public benefit by: - Engaging directly with members of the public, including students and residents of Reading, without restriction. - Seeking to understand and respond to both spiritual and practical needs within the community. - Encouraging volunteer participation, contributing to community cohesion and shared social responsibility. - Laying the groundwork for future activities that will provide ongoing spiritual teaching, pastoral support, and community-focused initiatives.
