Reference and administraFve informaFon set out on page 1 forms part of this report. The financial statements comply with current statutory requirements and the consFtuFon.
## **Structure, governance and management**
## _Organisa(onal structure_
All charity trustees are included in the Management Team and appointments are approved at the annual AGM. Appointments mid-year are raFfied at the AGM. The charity is an unincorporated not-for-profit organisaFon registered in 2024.
## _Trustee training_
Trustees are provided with the necessary Charity Commission documentaFon on successful elecFon and are provided training where necessary.
## _Governance, internal control and risk management_
The Trustees have reviewed the major risks of the charity and have taken acFon and established systems which will miFgate any known risks. All policies and procedures are reviewed regularly.

The Trustees of Read Easy North, East and West Devon have had regard and are aware of the Charity Commission’s public benefit guidance when exercising their duFes to which the guidance is relevant.
## **Objec.ves and ac.vi.es**
To advance the educaFon of the adult public within the North, East and West Devon area in literacy.
## **Achievements and performance**
Within the last 12 months:
- 33 new readers have commenced their literacy journey

- 13 readers have withdrawn from the programme having made liele progress
The total number of readers at year end is 49.
## **Financial review**
Read Easy NEW Devon has had some very successful bids and is now in a strong posiFon to maintain around 50 readers per year for the next 2 years. Our most successful bid was for a £16,000 NaFonal Loeery grant, which pushed us over the £25,000 threshold for accounFng purposes this year.
We conFnue to receive support from local community fundraising and have started to raise our profile through our networking team, who visit local shops, libraries, work fairs etc to aeract new readers and raise funds whilst there.
For a charity that was formed in 2024 from a merger of two smaller groups, the success rate has been very pleasing. We now have hubs in Axminster, Exeter, Exmouth, North Devon and Okehampton.
## **Reserves policy**
The Trustees’ policy for holding reserves is to have funds that will enable 50 readers to complete their programmes. At an average of £170 per annum for a reader in year two, this requires a reserve fund of £8,500.

Unrestricted reserves (cash in current account + cash in the reserves bank account) were £3,663.86 at year end.
Restricted reserves were at £16,930.22 at year end.
## **Plans for future periods**
We are bidding for a contract with the Devon Community FoundaFon, sponsored by the Devon and Cornwall Police force, which will encourage offenders and those at risk to join the literacy programme and help them back into work and or educaFon. This will require specialist training and checking of coaches and addiFonal investment in publicity, but could be a very rewarding programme to be part of.
Other than this, we are planning to maintain around 50 acFve readers at any one Fme, unFl such Fmes as grants permit us to extend our coach base and take on a bigger number.
The Charity remains commieed to promoFng and publicising the Charity to create greater public awareness of the Charity’s aims and achievements to date.

## **Independent examiner's report to the trustees of Read Easy North, East and West Devon**
I report to the charity trustees on my examinaFon of the accounts of Read Easy North, East and West Devon (the Trust) for the year ended 30 September 2025.
## **Responsibili.es and basis of report**
As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparaFon of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the ChariFes Act 2011 ('the Act').
I report in respect of my examinaFon of the Trust's accounts carried out under SecFon 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examinaFon I have followed all applicable DirecFons given by the Charity Commission under SecFon 145(5)(b) of the Act.
## **Independent examiner's statement**
aeenFon in connecFon with the examinaFon giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:
|1.|accounFng records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by
SecFon 130 of the Act;or|

|2.|the accounts do not accord with those records;or|
|3.|the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements
concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the ChariFes
(Accounts and Reports) RegulaFons 2008 other than any requirement
that the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a maeer
considered aspart of an independent examinaFon.|
I have no concerns and have come across no other maeers in connecFon with the examinaFon to which aeenFon should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
