The principal activities of Roundhay Methodist Churc*, as a pwt of Oakwood Church (a Methodist Anglican Partnership). are the provision of opportunities 8nd f8cilitias for regular Christian Worship and associated activities and provision of facilities for youth and other community activities. To this and wé: a. Provide corporaie worship and related activities for spritual growth and the deepening of faith in God through Christ. b. Express Christian love through rnutual care and supwl and provide for fellowship for members and for others within the o)mmunity c. Provide outreach of faith and witness within and beyond Ic)cal communty and to extend the church f8mily. d. Structure, Governance and Management The goveming document is the Deed CA Union (1932) and ihe Methodist Clxjrch Act (1976) The Local Church is govemed by a Church Council consisting of Churth members acting as Trustees. The Trustees consist of the Circuit Ministers, designated Church office holders ex officio and a number of other members by election. Pa981of8 The Church Council makes all key decisions relats"r¥J to the day to day running of the Churth unless delegated to Me of the committees, (though it retains ultimate accountabilily). There is a joint Church C0￿ClI, 08k1￿0d Church Council, o)mprised of Rwndhay Methodist Church Council and Roundhay St John's Parochial Clvjrch Coun(il. Most of the business is dealt with by Oakwood Church c￿nCil. but 8ny specffic Mothodist or Anglican church business is managed by the relevant Individual church c¢JJncil within the larger meeting. Activitles and Achievements 08kwood Churth works with Missional Generaticfft, buying in the serrfices of a youth worker part time to carry out youth and children's work in the thurch and local schools. Ollie Greerffield left the role during the year, was replaced by Matk Wh8018r. Oakwood Church also employs a part-time administr8tor. Naomi Pol80n. On Thursday 12 September 2024 Rev Gemma Fleury was licensed as Interim Priest-in-charge for the Anglicsn church. She y￿t on fflatemity leave In August 2025. Rev Nigel Wn'ght has been appointed as the Methodist Presbyter from 1 September 2025 We have adjusted our pattem of worship this year, so ts 1 . 2 and 5 Sund8ys are all-age services. with Oakwood Kj'ds available on 3 and 4 Sundays during moming worship. There are two youth groups meetiry on Sunday evenirwJ5, one a9es 8-11 and the other for 11-18 year olds. We have a variety of worship available throughout the month. with communion available each Sunday, either in the moming or aftemoon, wilh the 2-, 4 , and 5 moming Sunday services available to attend remotely on Zoorn. Once a Month the￿ is silent prayer on a Monday aftemoon. Ther8 Is a zoom bible study held weekly dunro term time on a Wednesday evening arKI two oth8r housè groups meet regularly. We are encouraging more members of the congregation to part]'cipale in worship, in particular in singing ard in leading local arrangemant servbces. Vle have been engaging with the local community more possible, ￿then there have been events at Oakwood Cl(Kk and on Oakwood Day. We have continued with Christmas and Good Friday wvices at Oakwood Clock, Christmas servit%s in local care Iv)mes and retirement residential complexes. We have increased our prosence in services in local care hornes throughoul the year. We produce a newsletter three ts'mes a year that is delive￿ to all the homes in ow parish arKI deliver prayer cards rnonthly to the streats we are praying for that month. Due to being an 8￿menical partnership and to honour Ihe unity better, we have revised the way we charge for fvnerals arKI weddings. so the fe8s ar8 in line regardless of which minister (x)nduct3 the servlce. The church runs groups for the community, irtludiro 8 Toddler Group, Monday Café. Bowls, Snooker, Pickleball, Scottish Dancing, Thursday Lunch Club and ￿ Art Group. We also support number of uniformed groups in the Scouts and Guiding Movements. as well as hosting a number of community groups. The church supports a number of charities through furKI raising activib"es. induding, but not limited to The Leprogy Mission. Action for Children, Th• Children's So¢i•ty. All We Can. Methodist Home? and Macmillan. Financial Review The Church's main source of funds is from freewill offerings by members and others, supplemented by income from rents paid by organisations for the use of rooms. Expenditure Is needed for conlribLrting to the maintenance of ministry in thè local Methodist Circuit, for property expenses, for seleckn've grants and for worship. Total Income for the 202412025 financi8J year was £11 Ok. a slight reduction on tho previous yaar. Giving dipped a little, reflecting both changes within cur congregation and the financAal challenges many are experiencing. Lett'kngs Income also fell as several It￿￿$tar￿ing groups moved on. Page3of8 Total expenditure for the year was £104K marginally below the previous year's figure. Day-to-day running costs such as uts'lities. maintenance insurr￿Ge remained stable. Youth work u>ntinues to be a signbficant and valued area of investment and CXK ¢￿tribUtIon to Ihe wider Methodisl Circuit remains one of our largest commitments A surplus of £3.5k was realised dunng the year.
