Silah was established to advance the Islamic faith through high-quality educational programmes that reconnect individuals with their faith and identity. Since our inception, we have sought to provide structured and accessible Islamic education that equips participants with authentic knowledge while encouraging thoughtful reflection, critical engagement and meaningful spiritual development. for the charity. As trustees, we remain committed to ensuring that Silah continues to develop as an educational institution that serves the public benefit through accessible, authentic and engaging Islamic education. Dr Omar Abdul Jolil Founder and Chair of Trustees ## ## **Charitable Objects** The objects of Silah are: - community activities, particularly for those who are not typically engaged in Islamic learning. - To promote understanding and awareness of Islamic teachings and values through workshops, courses and other educational initiatives. ## The trustees have complied with their duty under section 17 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit. Silah exists to reconnect individuals with their faith and identity through structured Islamic education. The charity seeks to advance the Islamic faith not simply by delivering information but by enabling participants to understand, critically engage with and emotionally connect to authentic Islamic teachings. The trustees believe that structured educational programmes provide lasting public benefit by strengthening religious understanding, encouraging positive moral development and supporting individuals to apply Islamic principles in their personal, family and community lives. Educational activities are promoted through the charity's website, social media platforms and community networks, making participation accessible to those who may not ordinarily engage with traditional Islamic learning. ## **Activities and Achievements** During its inaugural operating period, Silah focused on establishing a sustainable educational model while delivering a range of structured educational programmes for public benefit. The charity's principal educational activities included: ## **The Stage Programme** sessions throughout the reporting period. The programme provides participants with a progressive curriculum designed to develop a coherent understanding of Islam while strengthening faith, identity and personal development. ## **Islamic Teamwork** An eight-session programme exploring the Islamic principles of collaboration, leadership, responsibility and community engagement from an Islamic perspective. ## **History of Palestine Programme** A four-session educational series examining the historical, religious and cultural significance of Palestine through an evidence-based educational approach. ## **Islam 101** An introductory eight-session course developed for reverts and individuals seeking foundational knowledge of Islam, covering essential beliefs, worship and practical aspects of Muslim life. ## **More Than Mediocre University Tour** faith, purpose and identity while demonstrating the relevance of Islam to contemporary life. Alongside these programmes, the charity continued to produce educational content through its website and social media platforms, extending access to Islamic learning beyond in-person teaching. ## **Educational Philosophy** The trustees believe that meaningful Islamic education extends beyond the transmission of information. Silah's educational approach is centred upon helping individuals develop a lasting relationship with their faith through structured learning, intellectual engagement and personal reflection. Rather than relying solely upon isolated lectures, the charity develops coherent educational pathways that encourage participants to think critically, engage confidently with Islamic knowledge and cultivate a deeper spiritual connection to Islam. The trustees believe this approach equips participants with knowledge that can be understood, internalised and applied throughout everyday life, contributing to stronger individuals, healthier families and more resilient communities. ## **Financial Review** Charitable Incorporated Organisation on 11 October 2024. The trustees adopted a prudent and measured approach to financial management, prioritising the establishment of the charity's governance, educational infrastructure and operational systems while ensuring that expenditure remained proportionate to the charity's activities. During the reporting period, the charity received total income of **£6,216.42** . Income comprised voluntary donations received from supporters together with an initial contribution from the founder to enable the establishment of the charity and its educational activities. Total expenditure during the period was **£323.68** . Expenditure related primarily to essential operational costs, including website hosting, digital educational software and transaction charges necessary to deliver and administer the charity's educational programmes. **£5,892.74** . The trustees will apply these funds exclusively towards the furtherance of the charity's charitable objects in accordance with the charity's governing document and the trustees' legal duties. During the reporting period, the principal risks identified were: - reliance upon voluntary donations as the charity's primary source of income; - early stages of development; - ensuring the continued quality, consistency and accessibility of educational programmes as activities expand. procedures and governance arrangements to mitigate these risks and remain satisfied that the charity is well placed to continue pursuing its charitable purposes. ## **Plans for Future Periods** The trustees intend to build upon the strong foundations established during the charity's first operating period. Priorities for the forthcoming year include: - expanding delivery of the Stage Programme; - - developing additional structured educational courses; - further developing Silah's educational initiatives and supporting resources; - increasing engagement with universities and local communities; and - continuing to strengthen the charity's governance and organisational capacity to support sustainable long-term growth.
