## **ANNUAL REPORT**
## **AGM Tuesday Tuesday 21st October 2025**
The Neighbourhood CHUMS CIO present their Annual Report for the year October 2024 - October 2025 and the current Receipts & Payments Accounts covering the same period.
This report has been prepared in line with the Purpose & Objectives of Neighbourhood CHUMS as stated within its Constitution:
- To promote social inclusion for the public benefit by preventing people living within the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea from becoming socially excluded, relieving the needs of those people who are socially excluded and assisting them to integrate into society.
## **Trustees:**

The Charity is strictly managed through its Constitution, specifically outlined under Item 9 of the Constitution along with robust Policies, Procedures and Guidance documents. The polices and procedures remain monitored and reviewed annually with additional guidance documents amended where required.
Neighbourhood CHUMS will continue to use its working name (CHUMS Membership Association) where appropriate. This has also been of benefit for our banking name purposes and is recognised and documented with the Charity Commission.
There have not been any new Trustees appointed and the recruitment process is clearly defined within the Constitution under Item 10. The current Trustees are to consider recruitment for up to two new Trustees during 2026-2027; reaching the maximum number of Trustees allowed to six To agree at the AGM to appointing a further associated non voting sub committee member with the experience of regulations and the running of a community centre.
There are no changes to the Neighbourhood CHUMS Constitution (governing document). Founder & Chair to continue indefinitely as stated within the Constitution Additional Trustees are in their first term of office of a 5 year term as stated within the Constitution.
## **CHAIRS ANNUAL REPORT - SUMMARY**
(Tough times, coupled with some fantastic highlights - October 2024 - October 2025)
It has been quite a journey for Neighbourhood CHUMS over the last year. Our main achievement from October last year was becoming a registered CIO Charity with the Charity Commission. This was followed by the successful bid to have the old and redundant bulk rubbish storage area on the

Henry Dickens Court Estate turned into our very own CHUMS Resource Centre, Works began in March of this year and despite all the delays things are now progressing.
We were able to continue using the redundant spaces little side room for our IT Hub which throughout 2024 and up to March of this year. Uptake and interest has been fantastic with a regular flow of up to 4 regular Neighbourhood CHUMS people attending twice a week throughout. With only 5 donated computers on hand that was a full class! (We only closed for Bank Holidays and one week throughout the whole year). So many are now far more confident with commuter technology! The benefits to members of our public / Neighbourhood CHUMS clients were immense. It provided face to face social interaction, it provided members of the public / Neighbourhood CHUMS clients a window to the world and enabled those isolated and socially excluded to link with family members living on the other side of the world as well as the discovery of other local community activities, to be more confident and a way to become more independant.
We organised smaller activities, such as afternoon teas, deliveries of small cupboard food shopping. Encouragement for social inclusion and bringing relief of isolation throughout 2024 and right up to the present day. This has been accomplished through the immense goodwill of local people, other voluntary groups and all of the trustees. Our Neighbourhood CHUMS client /member numbers have increased and by linking up with local expertise around financial inclusion, assistance in benefit claims, housing and referrals to other appropriate services and organisations, we have been able to continue to support all those needing these additional and essential services. The benefits have been substantial and photo’s attached and distributed are a true testament to this success as well as the huge number giving such positive feedback. **Attendance of these events totalled 69 (** to date).
A ‘One off ‘Restricted’ Funding’ was once again successful in October 2024 for our large preChristmas event and for providing individual hampers which we delivered to those who would be alone over Christmas.
This is funding via our local council’s City Living Local Life fund and agreed by our local ward Councillors.
Although this is a ‘restricted fund’ and can only be used for the event and hampers, **there were 55 Neighbourhood CHUMS client member attendees** plus 10 guests and a fantastic number of volunteers. Hampers and Gift Bags were delivered to those known to be alone on Christmas Day to **21 CHUMS client members.**
A full 3 course sit down meal via great caterers; (Community Cook Off), live music, table service via our local Safer Neighbourhood Ward Police Officers, raffle prizes, pre-arranged transport, hire of a local hall and with the added bonus of the Deputy Mayor all proved to be a most special afternoon.
The end of 2024 certainly ended with a great deal of happiness and all the client members had the very best of times at the December event, (and the Hampers were well received).
## **2025- Future Neighbourhood CHUMS Resource Centre & Links with local voluntary groups:**
Neighbourhood CHUMS have been very busy forging links and contacts with various organisations and individuals. We became members to the Kensington & Chelsea Social Council; have strong connections to the Silchester Estate and linking an additional support and activities network with the Grenfell Community Support Team and the Latymer Community Church to help further tackle and break the cycle of the impact that loneness and social exclusion for our client resident members endure day to day.
On 10th March 2025 saw the agreement for the works on our future Neighbourhood CHUMS Resource Centre. It has been nearly 4 years since its conception along with facing various challenges but it’s now a firm reality.
Despite numerous work delays we are assured that we will have this fabulous facility by the end of October or early November and plans to formally (officially) open, has been scheduled for mid January 2026

We had some rather sad moments earlier in 2025 with three of our very elderly Neighbourhood CHUMS client/members passing away between March and May. Neighbourhood CHUMS provided extra support to their families throughout as not only was this a very difficult time, especially with the only family members living so many miles away; it was through the Neighbourhood CHUMS vigilance and regular contact that alerted the family and the authorities of concerns. The families were able to spend at least a few days with their loved ones before they passed away. Neighbourhood CHUMS have remained in constant contact with them.
Neighbourhood CHUMS continues to contact every Neighbourhood CHUMS client member every Sunday with many additional contact calls throughout the week. There are now 100 regular client members on our list with additional people using our service upon referral for short term support. The huge impact and benefit to those needing Neighbourhood CHUMS support has clearly been identified from the above narrative and by many other local services as well as our local Councillors, the Council Housing services, (Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea) and the Notting Dale Safer Neighbourhood Police Team.
## **Funding & Finance:**
From July 2025 we actively researched and began applying for external and internal funding. It was decided to apply to several external funders in hopes that we would be more successful in securing funds for the running and provision of Social & Interactive activities with our new Resource Centre. Having our own venue and the ability to run activities and information and support sessions can only increase the already positive impact on the members of the public (Neighbourhood CHUMS client members) who need our level of support and vital community engagement . **There are currently 118 client members listed and each one contacted on a weekly basis** .
The local councils City Living Local life (restricted funding) for the annual pre-Christmas event and hampers was submitted early and confirmation on its success and the funds were received (2,390.00) on 28th August 2025. Ordering; Invoice payments and Purchases have already begun.
A smaller secondary application to the City Living Local Life (CLLL) Funding for essential items of £1,055 was supported for our Resource Centre and the application submitted on 2nd September 2025. Funds were successful. Following this notification we received confirmation of the National Lottery Community Fund to cover all set up costs, equipment and activities for a whole year. The CLLL grant was therefore returned to the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea.
Assistance (in kind) has been offered by the RBKC Grenfell Community Support Team; who have also assisted many of our CHUMS Client members with form filling and other housing related matters.
Our draft Receipts & Payment Annual Accounts for the last financial year (October 2024 - October 2025) has been distributed with this report. **The Receipts & Payment Annual Accounts will continue to be updated to ensure complete accuracy at time of submission for the end of October 2025. Copies will be made available to all the Trustees.**
Whilst we currently do not have regular funds, we have successfully secured what we need for our annual event. Once our centre is completed we will be able to organise additional fundraising events. Various local shops have already agreed to donate goods (raffle prizes) and refreshment items.
Trustees are very confident that Neighbourhood CHUMS has a secure and sustainable future.
## **Current Project:**
Pre-Christmas Event - confirmed date Friday 5th December 2025: Although this is event is after this annual report; it is an objective that was felt important to be included as the planning did began in May 2025. The venue, caterers, entertainer have all been booked and the transport (through the Westway Community Transport) has been provisionally booked for the day.
Invitations have been completed as well as a Risk Assessment carried out. A VIP guest list has been completed and the RBKC Mayor will be attending as well as RBKC Councillors.

**Our objectives for the ‘coming year’ (from 31st October 2025- October 2026) will be** :
- Holding the Annual Christmas Lunch Event ( 5th December 2025)
- Opening of our Resource Centre for drops in’s with the official opening proposed for January 2026.
- Providing interactive engagement activities and opportunities for the benefit of ‘members of the public (all our Neighbourhood CHUMS client members).
- Continue strengthening local links to community groups and encourage Neighbourhood CHUMS client members (and others) to become part of their community again.
- Develop our own Web / LinkedIn Page.
- Seek small unrestricted funding amounts, hold fundraising events and acceptance of additional donation (monetary or in kind).
- Promotion of Neighbourhood CHUMS to the wider public through flyers and posters
- Plans in place to re-open the IT / digital access for those digital excluded
- Provision of Health & Wellbeing related information & activities
- Proposed setting up a Healthy Eating monthly Lunch Club - E.A.T. ( **E** at **A** ll **T** ogether)
- Organise the Annual Neighbourhood CHUMS Christmas Party and Hamper deliveries in readiness for December 2026
- Provide smaller ‘themed’ social interactive engagement events throughout the year.
Finally, it has been an honour and a privilege to serve as the Trustee Chair. I would like to thank all theTrustees (Emma, Karen, Minna) and our associated sub committee members / volunteers (Nathan, Becky, William, Shaun, Christopher, Stephen and Gillian) for all the their hard work and all the voluntary hours they have put into helping and supporting our Neighbourhood CHUMS client members and for everyones determination and time that has been dedicated in the consultation’s, works progress meetings and for getting things moving along to secure our new Resource Centre for the future.
