## **Trustees’ Annual Report and Accounts**

For the period 3 October 2024 to 4 April 2025

## **Chair’s Foreword**

It is with a sense of pride, humility, and deep responsibility that I present the first Trustees’ Annual Report of the African Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (UK). The establishment of AFOG(UK) marks an important early milestone in a collective endeavour to create a professional bridge between African obstetricians and gynaecologists in the United Kingdom and colleagues, institutions, and communities across the African continent.

This founding period has been one of careful preparation rather than visible delivery. The trustees have been united in the conviction that meaningful impact begins with strong foundations: sound governance, clarity of purpose, and a shared commitment to public benefit. Our ambition is rooted in a spirit of service — a desire to give back to our home countries by sharing skills, knowledge, and professional experience gained within a highly efficient and effective healthcare ecosystem in the United Kingdom.

We are excited by the promise that lies ahead. AFOG(UK) is being shaped as a platform through which members of the African diaspora can contribute responsibly and sustainably to improvements in women’s health across the continent. This includes fostering professional collaboration, supporting capacity-building, and strengthening systems of care in ways that respect local leadership and context.

I am grateful to my fellow trustees for their voluntary service, collegiality, and shared sense of duty. Together, we look forward to stewarding AFOG(UK) with integrity, accountability, and a long-term commitment to the communities we seek to serve.

Dr Hani Fawzi _Chair of Trustees_
