Trustees: Sara Brockway, Carol Halstead, Lauren Livesey, Robert Moss
- 2024/5 was our first year as a charity and has been a period od adjustment. We have 4 trustees who are responsible for our building (theatre), our volunteers, our dramatic activities and our social events as well as preparing for a major fundraising effort to upgrade our building for the future.
We have a steering committee responsible for the organising of our performances and general matters. We also have at least six volunteers responsible for our youth and junior groups who put on their production once a year as well as developing their acting and/or backstage skills.
No new trustees have been recruited or necessary so far. When needed they will be appointed by the existing trustees.
-
During the year we successfully auditioned, rehearsed and performed a variety of shows either at our own studio theatre or at The Met, a council owned venue in nearby Bury. We achieved our budgets for both income received for the shows and keeping our costs within agreed limits. We furthermore progressed the plans to make substantial improvements to our own theatre. We held 4 meetings with people from the local community to take opinions of needs and aspirations. As a result we have produced initial plans for the development of our building into a modern theatre and arts space with a further opportunity for daily use by community groups throughout the area. Our meetings with Bury Council’s property and planning heads of department continues.
-
In addition to successful plays, musicals and pantomime which cost effectively opens up theatre to a local audience, over 100 volunteers have developed their abilities performing on stage, assisting behind the scenes with all aspects of production and planning and managing social activities. The educational aspects, in particular incorporating our general aim to include an increasingly diverse mix of 6 to 18 year olds, continues to provide essential character development, self-confidence and relationship building.
-
Out total income is gained from our shows (50%), Friends donations(15%), Bar takings (15%) social events(10%) Occasional donations and localised fundraising(10%). In the past we have been able to make a small surplus. However from this year, with our new charity status , we have made a surplus of £12000 which has been reserved as part of our new development fund prior to a major fundraising campaign over the next two years.
-
In order to provide the local Prestwich and North Manchester community with a theatre that can uniquely be used for a wide variety of arts and community related activities and events, we are embarking on a programme to provide a space that will be fit for its public purpose throughout the 21[st] century.
